8 In The Snow

I saw Huzer's comment in another post about how useless the 8's stock tires are in the snow. I 100% agree with him. My car has been in the garage all week and I have been taking the bus to work. If I could get out of my neighborhood, I would be fine, but my streets are still slick. Has anyone had any luck with snow or all-season tires on their 8?

I saw they has some in stock at Burt. Some Pirellis and Blizzaks. The tires on my car now are Fuzion ZR1s, or something like that. Thankfully, I can walk to work from where I live.

Yeah, getting to and from work isn't too difficult for me, it is just being stuck at home that I hate some days. Maybe I will give Burt a call about those tires. I need a couple of other things taken care of anyway.

All seasons helpd a little but not much over the stock tires. Slight inclines from a stop are no goes. Getting out of a parking space yeah right, just get sucked into the curb. When I can get someone to push me out to the main stree everythig is alright, as long as the street isn't too slushy. Yesterday was fine. Got stuck in the Colorado Mills Parking lot and at the Pepsi Center last night but overall the main streets were great.

Wonder if some really Chunky winter tires would make a diff. I would rate stock tires a 2 out of 10 and the all seasons a 4.

Just from past experience full snow tires generally beat the snot out of all seasons. I know light car + RWD isn't the recipe for winter perfection, but add some snows, through some kitty litter in the trunk and that should make life a little better. I haven't decided between this or picking up a truck.

Yeah, I am cocmtemplating picking up a cheap 2nd ride for the snowy times. For now, I am becoming an RTD professional!!

I just drive my car in the snow. Even on summer tires it does ok. I was suprised. My car is not an 8 but it is RWD and has an LSD.

My tires just couldn't hack it yesterday. But then again, I was dealing more with ice than snow. Still, I wouldn't trust those tires on snow at all, they're hard as a rock when it's cold. For now, the car will pretty much stay parked.

I have both winter and summer tires so I just switch those out. I HAVE to drive to work. I just put on some Pirelli 240 Snowports and I haven't had any issues yet....except when I had to stop at a traffic light on a hill.

Yeah i dont have snow tires and it sucks in the snow so i just go get my bros car and use it when the snow comes :lol:

There is a guy down the road from me with an 8 on Blizzacks- he seems to be getting around fine even with the heaviest of snows recently. Winter tires made all the difference with both of my Mazda's- the only limit is ground clearance. Worth the investment if you are planning on keeping the car for a few years...

Intresting. I may have to invest some money on some winter tires if I can find a good deal on used ones. Found some on craigs list but the guy only has 3.

Looks like I'll probably suck it up and get some snows for the car. I can't deal with not driving every time it snows. Haha. And right now, I wouldn't even attempt to move the car.

I am going to suck it up as well because not driving every time it snows is horrible. But now I have to figure out how to get my car out of the garage, and down the alley so I can get it to a tire shop!!!
