Build thread

Postby speedjunkie » Thu Mar 05, 2009 9:14

Well, my original idea (which was about 3 seconds ago) was to post pics of my build over the years. I have now realized I don't really have many pics of the build itself, more random pics of the car. So I nominate this as the build thread for all of us. Post pics of your build. Or if you just want to post pics of your car, that's cool too. Here is the current work on mine... Street Dreams Auto Salon in C Springs is doing my body work and paint while I'm deployed. They also got my wheels back from getting powdercoated and got the tires put on for me. Sanai Fighting FD kit (replica made by ShineAutoProject on RX7Club) is also going on. I'll post pics of other parts of the build later on, but I'll post these most current ones now.

More pics...

Also getting a 500R-SP turbo kit from A-Spec tuning. I'll be adding that and water injection along with a bunch of other stuff when I get back.

Thanks guys!!! You'll see it in person in a couple months. Of course, I guess you could always stop by the shop and look at it if you wanted to also, HAHA.

Nice! RPF1s look great in black. I like the Sanai kit too...there is one for sale locally, already painted MB, is that the one you're getting? I was thinking about picking it up but I really want the KS Burnout kit that shine auto makes instead...

Thanks man! I'm still kinda on the fence about the wheels being black, I'm hoping I'll like them more in person haha. Funny you mention that kit...no, I've had mine for about 3 years now and I'm just putting it on. BUT, I have talked to the guy that's selling that kit, on this site I believe. I saw his car with the kit a while back already, and now he's on this site. Back then I didn't even know he was in CO. EVERYONE likes that Burnout kit, HAHA. I like it too, and originally I was going to go with that one, but I decided on this one instead. I'm not as crazy about my front end as I used to be, it's a bit too agressive for me I think, but I think it'll look good with the wheels. I'll see you in about a month man! Are you still racing? Oh, and I assume you put those parts on after I saw you in Pueblo?

Here are a couple pics Simon took when he was sizing his Burnout rear fender flares with my wheels/tires to see what size he should get. I might have to get some now too, haha.

My friend Kellen took some pics for me yesterday. Notice the left rear and possibly right front tires are mounted backwards. That, kids, is why you don't have the powdercoaters mount the new tires on for you haha. Apparently they don't know a directional tire when they see one haha.

Your guess is as good as mine Chris. It's been back from PDR for almost two weeks I think, and they have yet to actually do any more work to it. Sean has been in Hawaii for about a month now I believe, and Zico has been down there for about two months I think but he's trying to come back now, and I think he said he was gonna work on it. And Simon told me he'd work on it too if he had to haha. Thanks to Simon it's sitting back in the shop now, rather than out there overnight where it could get vandalized like Dave's FD. Now Simon just has to get HIS car in the shop too haha.

I'll only have about a week and a half MAYBE to do all the stuff I need to do to it before driving it home for leave for Memorial Day weekend. I'm really starting to stress about this. And it doesn't help that Corey keeps telling me it won't be done hahaha.

Actually I have just less than 2 weeks, or possibly just over 2 weeks now, instead of an exact date they changed it to a window. That's alright cause I'm not even sure my turbo kit is gonna be there when I get back, which would negate whether the car was finished or not. Depending on when I get back I'll have at least a week and a half anyway, longer than what I first expected, to get everything ready to go.

Zico and Sean have told me they've painted cars in 5 days before, and Simon has already been working on it and Sean is back now, so keep your negative Nancy comments to yourself HAHA.
