They are fixing my upperintake manifold and my tranny for me. (About freaking time the tranny gets fixed)For those that don't know last year at the end of August I got a new motor around 24k-25k miles. Well after that I have gotten several CEL's, mainly random missfires. Since then I have had the coils replaced twice with there being a noticable difference in how the car drove....but yet I still got CEL's. Well a vaccum line recently broke off that goes to the intake manifold behind the throttle body. My suspicion is that this caused the CEL's and random missfires. It was probably cracked a little and finally broke off all the way. I temporarily solved the issue by taping off the leak.
For the tranny.....well I've been complaining about it grinding for over 2 years. Just random grinding. Clutch all the way to the floor and shifting from 1st to 2nd or form 3rd to 2nd. Syncros for ya. Well it has been getting worse and worse and worse. Burt acknowleged the problem but had no techs. Gateway shot down Tim (Huzer21) so I didn't even bother. Don't really like Lakewood so no chance at I was going there. Well I tried Sil Ter and they claim my tranny was all torn up without even checking anything. A week after Burt and 2 Different service managers acknowledged it was syncros. Well I kinda got impatient and decided I cant wait for Burt to get a tech in so tried McDonald to see if I would have the same success as Tim. And I did.
I should have the car back Monday when I have time to pick it up after work.I'm so happy to be able to shift normally again. For it to not be so clunky while shifting and not grinding while trying to pass someone that's doing 10 under the speed limit. The car will be normal....like it was when I first got it. YAY!!! I only hope that since they are only rebuilding it that there will not be any other problems down the line from the metal shavings from grinding so much. I would much prefer that they just did a whole new tranny in there.
