STOLEN: My 1993 Mazda RX-7

Postby Ranger » Wed Sep 24, 2008 9:14

So I know I'm not a very important member since I mostly lurk on here...but I'd like to ask you guys a favor. Yep...after only two months of ownership my FD has been stolen. Image I came back from the grocery store last night and noticed that it was not parked where I had left it. I thought maybe it had been towed for some reason, so I called the police, but they had no record of it being towed...so we're assuming it's been stolen. I've filed a police report but I'd like to ask everyone here to please keep an eye out for it. It is a 1993 touring model (tan leather, sunroof), montego blue in color (it's actually faded to more of a green color), with an R1 front lip and a big front mount intercooler. It most likely will have no plates or a CO temp tag. Thanks and please feel free to post or call me at 303-725-3773 if you see anything like it...

P.S. - Here are some pictures:

And several people have asked, so here are the distinguishing features that would be clearly visible if you were passing the car on the road:

- Deep scratch on passenger side headlight cover
- RX-7 Badge missing from rear of the car, but you can see the outline where it was
- Red painted calipers with white Mazda lettering
- Power antenna is stuck part way up. It looks like it wouldn't quite go all the way down because it wouldn't :)
- Two dime-sized dents lined up vertically behind the passenger side door
- Racing Beat exhaust, you may not notice the lettering but it's quite loud so you should notice the sound

ARG!!! That PISSES me off.... I will definately keep an eye out for it for sure. I am good at following people without being noticed and if I see it... I will work my magic. SO sorry to hear this. Whereabouts is this grocery store that it was stolen at?

Actually I didn't take it to the store. I came back from the grocery store in another vehicle, and when I passed by where the FD should have been parked (on the street outside my condos) it wasn't there. I never thought this would have happened to me...I live in a good area and the cop said car thefts are very rare around here. So clearly it was stolen by somebody who knew what the car was and exactly how to steal it. Oh and I live near Southwest Plaza mall if that helps...also, an FD like mine was reportedly seen near 6th and Wadsworth, but the guy didn't know for sure if it was my car. Thanks for the help guys...

That sucks. I'll definitely keep an eye out for it. FDs aren't a terribly common site, so if it's out and about, it should be an easy spot. Have you posted a "Stolen" ad on craigslist yet?

Where did you buy it? From where? Maybe they kept a key?

I bought it from a private party in North Carolina. I suppose there's a chance that he kept a key, although he seemed trustworthy and it's highly unlikely he would fly all the way up here just to steal the car...

I live about 3 miles north of Southwest Plaza.... definately will keep my eye out, even though they will probably take it to the opposite side of town.

Cool, thanks...even though I'm sure you're right. If it was indeed spotted getting on 6, it's probably long gone by now :( Only consolation I have is that I had comprehensive coverage and insured it for the full amount of the car, so if it's lost I will get most of my money back...but it still sucks. It burns me up to know that some douchebag is out there joyriding in MY car

Also, I deleted the CL posting in my original post, so that nobody would think that the person who stole it was trying to sell it. I put some pictures of the car in that post instead.
