I'm going on 3 weeks of ownership now with the RX8 and I'm pretty happy with my choice (sure would love some 1st gear torque)! I'm still not used to that sword-handled ebrake - I see it out of the corner of my eye when I'm driving and I keep thinking the ebrake is on! Has anyone ever seen an explanation out of Mazda for that crazy design? If you removed that weird plastic hilt from around it, I swear the handle is on a 20-degree angle which is any car I know means the brake is on.

I know. I would have to double check all the time when i first got my Rx. I like it because it keeps my sunglasses between the shift knob and ebrake so its right there for me when i get into the car.

Ah, the good ol' fishhook. Yeah, it definitely took some getting used to.

Fish hook?! LOL. I guess I should call it a parking brake instead of an emergency brake if you want to get technical. I remember when I first test drove I thought it was cool - something out of a concept car or something. Didn't think it would be a peripheral vision distraction...

you get used to it. I really didn't like how the center consule went all the way back but i got used to it..

You have to have the center consule go all the way back because of the drive shaft. If you were to take it out and put a seat there, it would have to be one small kid to fit.

I knoe I know. I'm just used to other cars where it's just the hump there and nothing else. almost flush with the seat. Kinda like the Crapmarow. But it grew on me really quick. After like the first day af actually seein the 8 at the lot when they came out I didn't mind it.

Are you guys serious about the Brake Handle?
I didn't/don't even notice it. Just another little accent in the car.
I'm actually suprised it isn't rotor shaped. :P
