Well I'd like to reinstall it, but who knows if I'll ever do it lol. I'd love to reinstall AC and heat, just so it's a well-rounded car. Heated seats would be nice too lol. And I would like to leave the AC space open because it makes it MUCH easier to change the spark plugs.

I'm going to Fastenal tomorrow to get some rivet nuts. I had a kit that I picked up from Harbor Freight but I can't find the rivet gun since Simon used it over a year ago lol, and I didn't want to use Harbor Freight rivet nuts for something as important as this. I guess I'll have to get another kit from Harbor Freight though because I'm not paying $200 for a rivet gun from Fastenal.

"Nut-sert"? If they are one and the same, I have one of those if you need it. Has a few size ranges all SAE as I remember.

Oh I'm sorry Chris, do you also deploy pretty much every year and get only one year of no deployments so you can make events but then your car doesn't let you? My bad. lol

That is BS that your car has taken this long in the shop though. On one hand, you DID know beforehand how Al's brother is, but on the other hand, how can you pass up a deal like that? lol If in fact you're referring to your car situation.

I'd think about it if my car was running, but if my car was running I wouldn't need to lol. Actually that's not true, I could still run up there if I needed the tool. I went and bought another one at Harbor Freight that has everything in one. You can do regular rivets, rivet nuts, and also anchors or something like that.

Tom said yesterday my radiator would be ready today. I talked to him this morning and he said he was going to try to get a Land Rover finished first before he worked on my radiator. I just spoke to him a bit ago and he said he'd have it finished tomorrow. Ugh. So much for leaving for home tomorrow morning.

I relocated the water injection pump tonight. Took quite a bit longer than I expected. I just finished at 0315. Hopefully my radiator will be finished in the morning so I can still head home.

I also fixed a couple other little small things today, but they're not really important enough to type out at this time of night lol.

Spoke to Tom today. Now the radiator won't even be worked on until Monday. This is reeking of the seats saga. I really hate being held hostage by way of radiator. So much for making it to St Louis for the bbq tomorrow.

I finished installing the water injection setup from re-routing it yesterday. The elbow I'm using in the bottom of the washer tank is a little suspect though. It spins a little too easily, I'm not 100% sure it's sealing either. I installed it last night, and put some pipe sealant and Super Black RTV around the threads too. I let it dry overnight and then filled it with water today and let it sit for about an hour for a leak test. Turned out well. I had the line on while I was installing the bottle and because the line is so stiff and not very flexible at all, it turned the fitting when it got caught on something. I filled it a little with washer fluid, took off the RTV and put an empty washer fluid bottle below it and it's been sitting like that for several hours now. I'll check it tomorrow to see if any fluid is in the bottle. Then I want to do a check with the car running to see if vibration makes it leak either. If not, I guess I'm fine with it. I also wrapped the lines in corrugated tubing and then taped them with electrical tape. I'll take pics tomorrow and post them up. It's not like I'm doing anything else with my time, like driving home lol.

GoodfellaFD3S 04:58 PM 08-13-10 We don't deal with lapped irons at my shop..... we either use in-spec ones or have the customer buy new ones.

I've seen an extreme instance of an engine where a guy paid for 'professional lapping' and they took off enough material that the coolant o-ring grooves weren't deep enough and it led to immediate engine failure.

Well, at least they build with quality parts there lol.

I talked to Tom today around 1pm when he text me a couple pics...



I guess the idiots at RX7store drilled a 1/4" hole in the core, then contacted it with the hole saw too when they cut the hole for relocating the inlet for coolant. Tom also said he wasn't the first one to cut the tank off, so he's not sure why they didn't relocate the inlet elbow while the tank was off, and either way, they had to see that they'd cut a hole in the core. I've called RX7store twice today and they haven't gotten back to me. If I don't hear from them in the next three days I will be posting up a full thread on RX7club and RotaryCarClub, and I will also be mentioning that when they sent me a second LED commander for my ECU, I paid them for it and sold it locally.

Anyway, Tom fixed the hole for the most part, he said it has a tiny hole in it still. It does still seep a little, but so far it's not as bad as the old radiator. YAY for me! lol

Oh, and I forgot to get pics of the water injection pump relocation before putting the car back on the ground lol.

I'm not sure if this is rhetorical or not, but I'm surprised from people's account here that rx7 store is still in business. how is that possible? Also, how does one group botch up customer service/parts to such a small group of people in a geographic region?

Well I've done a few things to the car recently. Still dealing with a seeping radiator, and trying to get a refund from RX7store. Tom finally sent me the receipt today so I could send it to RX7store and I did that, so we'll see how long it takes them to refund some money. I'm hoping to take another two weeks of leave so I can go home starting next week, but I was wanting to have the NEW new radiator in before then haha. That's definitely not gonna happen. Anyway, here are some pics.

I finished the ducting for the radiator and IC. The other night I did the filter side and the piece between the radiator and IC, and tonight I did the one in the front.






I'd like to make an air box to get just cold air...


And I'm still planning on making a cooling plate for between the bumper and IC...


Tonight I also installed the float sensor in the washer tank, and installed the indicator light in the gauge cluster in the center of the dash, although I got the light a little low because it's touching the dash haha...



And Friday night I flipped my filler neck cap around backwards so that it would look cleaner with the hose coming out the back and running down beside the engine.
