One good thing out of this, I did manage to modify a cell phone car holder to hold the Commander to my paperweight PFC...it plugs into the cigg lighter outlet. I may post a how-to sometime here.

Sorry, pics are from the phone

I REALLY like where this mounts Commander. Makes it extremely easy to view while driving. Additionally, the cell phone holder was like $10, puts the screen in my field of view, and is 100% reversible to OEM; which sure beats $50 bucks for a PFC holder that requires you to drill holes in your dash.

Good, I'll check out the thread on 7club. What an asshole.

I really like where that puts the Commander. I've seen this on 7club but thought it might be in the way. Actually, now I remember why I'm not crazy about it, because sometimes I use my lighter lol. Other than that it's awesome!

Oh, something else you might want to check out for your car...

I'm seriously thinking about getting one. I forget though, do you have a sunroof?

Damn that looks cool, Eric. Not a bad price for a vacuum-formed carbon sunroof plug, either.

Yes, I do have a sunroof and personally I wouldn't mind ditching it as it doesn't work right now LOL. I would need a non-sunroof headliner, map light, and then gut the sunroof motor, electronics, track, etc. Then seal up the carbon plug. Plus, it would give me more headroom.

Hopefully I can still get it after the GB is over.

The only problem really with the location I mounted the Commander is it blocks the right bank of indicator lights, so I can't see the e-brake light, high-beam light, etc. Not really things I have to stare at tho, so I'm not concerned.

As of right now the seller hasn't responded to any of my PayPal disputes, I escalated it to a claim but PayPal says they can't do anything because I received the product. So I'm now working with my bank to to a chargeback and hopefully resolve this.

Otherwise I'm going to A'PEXi tomorrow and see if I can send the unit in for repair.

Heard from A'PEXi customer service, they CAN repair the unit. Minimum charge is $50, and maximum charge is $350 if it requires full replacement. The good news with that is, even if it's the maximum amount of $350, it's still less (by $10 bucks haha) than a brand new PFC. Bad news is it typically takes 30-60 days to do the repairs.

I've also been doing some more research and it's a common problem, more or less in Skylines than FDs, where the PFC won't trigger a relay, causing the engine not to start with the PFC installed but it will start with the OEM ECU installed (like my situation). Usually, in Skylines, it's a fuel pump relay, but I have mine bypassed with my fuel pump rewire, so I don't believe that could cause any issue.

I'm going to read thru the FSM about how the MAP sensor and the TPS get and send voltage, and maybe check out some relays.

Yeah we were talking about whether to send Mike's to APEX'i or not as well. We wanted to check the map first to see if that was it.

As for the sunroof, I'm not sure how it will bolt in. To be honest, the glass itself really isn't that heavy. I took it out for them to paint the car and it was pretty light by itself. I'm assuming the track, motor and all that is where the weight is. The problem is if this is just to replace the glass and still have everything else, it's kinda pointless to get this because weight savings won't be that much.

Yeah blocking the idiot lights was something I was thinking about too with that spot, but like you said, it's not something you have to see all the time. Just check every now and then. I'm still thinking of making my own bracket to mount mine. I made one before and I really liked it but the body shop broke it last year.

Good luck with the PFC Dave. I'm emailing the other guys.

Thanks, Eric, I got your forwarding email, I really appreciate it.

What do you guys think is wrong with Mike's PFC, exactly?

You could have an AEM EMS installed tomorrow. Guarantee your car will start.

^LOL

Dave, we're hoping it's just the fuel map so we don't have to send it off, but we're not sure. We've done a few things to his car, checked out a lot of stuff, and so far it hasn't given us much hope.

If I were you, I'd tell that prick that if he covers the cost to get your PFC sent off and fixed, plus maybe a little extra money since he sent you a bum ECU, that you'll be cool with that. Then you might be able to pick up another one for the mean-time and I would probably buy that one from you when it came back from APEX'i, since I'd like to have a spare handy, or trade Zico and get back my original one and use that one. Just a thought.

Well the douche nozzle who sold it to me isn't replying to my emails, texts, or anything. I HIGHLY doubt he will send me any money towards the fixing of the unit.

The good news is that no matter what the unit CAN be fixed for a maximum of $350. That's not a bad deal...if I had paid $300 for it, instead I paid $615.

He hasn't even replied to the "Bad Guy" thread I started about him on 7Club. I'm sure he's gone and doesn't care.

Good news is have Eduardo (VRx8) coming up Friday night. He has a WORKING PowerFC in his car, and we're going to see if mine will work in his car, or if his will work in mine.

And while on 7club, I was researching ways to re-paint the Commander shell plastics since they are kinda beat. I stumbled upon this product called "DupliColor Bumper Paint" and apparently guys like this for re-painting interior plastics.

I've found a lot of people have repainted the shitty tan interior panels black using this product. So then all you need for a complete tan to black interior swap are seats (or skins), seat belts, headliner, and carpet. That's it, everything else can be repainted.

Great, now something else I want to do, LOL!

Oh yeah Eric, have you tried reinitializing the PFC? It will reset the PFC to the base map.

OR try loading one of the BDC Base Maps I posted in my "Tuning Docs" thread.

Well, after reading your thread on 7club, I have no doubt this dude is a scammer. I WISH I could pay him a visit in person. OMG I would **** his world up. I hate scumbags like this.

Well I'm glad Eduardo is gonna hook you up. Let me know what happens, although I'm pretty sure I already know lol.

At least you found some info that will save you a lot of money to do your interior lol. I'd love to mount my Commander screen and buttons into the center console where the ashtray is, like a guy did several years ago. And then put gauges where the HVAC controls are.

I'm not sure on Mike's PFC, Zico was the one helping him with that stuff. They swapped Zico's (my old PFC) into his car, but I don't remember what the outcome was.

So I have a friend who's a private investigator looking into this kid. Looks like he's scammed people before, and he may even be involved with car theft. He's also around 21 years old and lives with his parents.

My friend is calling his parents in a few and we're going to see if we can apply some pressure into getting a refund or the money for repairs for the unit.

Having friends with connections is awesome. LOL
