yea as it turns out P30 Bilstein inserts do not take well to that. Bent both of them. My replacements are 40mm inverted Bilsteins being made special for my car. Since i have the FC subframe, i am going to use the FC top mounts, weld on a plate for that pattern. That way i can transfer them to an FC shell when the FB dies.

So much of the car is FC that i might as well run an FC for next time.

yea the trucker flaps have since been torn so they may be replaced with something less cool. Ill see what the trucker section has. Getting to colorado at max, three years. Well see about sooner. Ill certainly have a house buy then though i can frequent.

so much to do, yet so little time to do it.

Hoping to start ordering in parts again come Jan. 1st or so. If i can get everything on hand, it will make my job easy once im home. I can just assemble things instead of wait for things.

So i am tinkering with the idea of a mechanical fuel pump. There is a kit for the rotary, comes in around 700 dollars, but seeing otherwise i would be running two bosch pumps (one as a backup) at almost 200 each, then having more electrical crap, the mechanical route seems tempting.

i emailed the company to make sure i can retain my power steering because if i cant that would be problematic

I assume you're looking at the Bosch 044 pumps? Those things are dead nuts reliable, I wouldn't worry about one failing within 100,000 miles honestly.

Curious why would need two 044 pumps as opposed to one? Twin pumps are good enough to over 800rwhp on a rotary. A single can easily support 500rwhp on a rotary with pump gas.

Its rally and things "happen". The harsh conditions have been known to end the life of many pumps prematurely. That said, finishing is everything and with entry costs the way they are, having a back up pump ready to switch into action is a wise investment.

They are plumbed in parallel but they will not operate simultaneously. They will have independent switches so if one does fail, the other can be put online without fuss.

I contacted the folks with the mechanical pump and its seems there is no way to retain the power steering. For that reason alone, its appeal is lost. So twin Bosch pumps it is.

This car is cool as f**k. If you ever get out to CO..you wouldn't happen to be looking for a co-driver hmm? :D I have a NASA comp license and drifting experience...always wanted to try rally but no suitable car to do it with...

when i get out there i do plan on spending time at CORE (if its still around) and hit the Colorado Hillclimb Series (all dirt). Do you have a neck restraint?

Sure do, and a fire suit. CORE should be around, they've stuck it out through harder times for the last few years. Have you heard otherwise or something? According to their website they're closed for the winter though.
