My 8 is almost at 22K miles and instead of swaping them out with the factory coils I was thinking of ordering from BHR.
I think it is recommended to switch them out every 30K miles.

Mine had been swapped under warranty at least once, and I had another bad one. This at 37000 miles. As far as a BHR replacement, so far I'm very happy with mine. Seems like the best of both worlds at this point. A modest HP bump, and a decent bump in MPG as well.
I know the plugs are a 36k miles swap, I don't think there's a recommended interval for ignition coils, though.

Ignition coils should never go out..... Yeah right...... Plugs are every 35,000 i think... or 30k...... I've had my coils replaced twice already. Waiting for BHR to PM me so I can order that kit..... Car has almost 38k and almost 5 yrs old..... Saturday I am getting compression tested and also trying to pinpoint what the Random missfire is.... I swear the coils are bad again.... and the motor is kaput.... We will see then.

Well, I've gone through the first few tanks since the ignition swap. The biggest story thus far is mileage. I've had a couple of "city only" tanks, that have had close to zero highway miles on them. I'm averaging 18.3 city now. (I was honestly getting below 15 before, averaging around 14.3 on city-only tanks.) Highway tank, it was actually the first time I crossed the 300 mile barrier on a tank of gas. I've only had 1 tank that was primarily highway, probably about an 80/20 split. That came out 26.1 mpg.
So, mileage comparison:
Before: 14.3/21.2 (highway measured on round trip to KC)
After: 18.3/26.1
Pretty decent improvement there, if you ask me. No other changes were made. There's also a small power increase, and an improvement in top end smoothness (from 7500+ in my car prior, it kind of felt like it was running out of breath. Not the case now). It was also nice that I filled up yesterday for under $30.

That will pay for itself. Mods that give you more power and milage are by far the best.

Most people (like me) are happy when someone reports their findings on a mod. Oh well, good write up. Hopefully I will be able to get mine before the new year.
Yeah, rx8club is a friendly bunch.

Im with you man. mine is my DD too. Even though gas went down still doesnt hurt to save money for future parts.
Huzer, did you order direct from BHR? How much did the set run?

Darth If you want any help installing then, give me a call. I've never done it on an rx-8 but there is always a first.
