Yeah seems like it would be a cool job get to travel some. was thinking AF or coast guard but the coast guard would be something i would do for a few years for fun and get out the AF is something i would stay with for 20 years to get retirement and then get another job to retire from so I'm leaning to the AF. i am EMT certified and to be a firefighter in the springs you have to wait over 2 years and if i was to get into the AF i may get lucky and get into the AF firefighter thing they have also so thats another thing with the AF

Don't bother with firefighting in the military. Civilians are handling most of that now. If you really want something to do with rescue try para-rescue but I'll warn you I've always hard it's the hardest job in the AF.

I've met a firefighter in the AF. He LOVES it but if you got family...I heard the hours are pretty rough. My hubby was a T.I. for 5 yrs (drill instructor for the AF)....firefighter hours ain't nothin compared to that. He just got out of it Nov 06...that's why we're here in Colorado. I'm trying to talk him into going back so I can go back to San Antonio :D AF basic training is supposed to be 8 weeks long soon....which I'm sure is nothing to you Army folks!

An EMT eh? Before i moved to Colorado after my junior year of high school i was signed up for EMT courses in California, but then i moved out here and i never got around to/had the time to begin out here in Colorado. It's the only reason im sour about moving from California... by now i would have been a cert EMT and working toward a full Paramedic :( now i just go to school, not saying its bad, i would have been going to school also out there, but now im working retail while in school opposed to doing something for the community...
