New 16X Motor

Postby GR-8 » Sun Oct 12, 2008 9:14

Here is a cool little animated info on it. Up'd to 1600cc from 1304cc. Most of you RX-8 and rotor fans probably already know of the motor but theres the link anywho. Direct injected to.

Pretty sweet. I like their focus on greater torque across the rpm range.

Nothing on it being boosted or any word about it ever being. I think they are just focusing on reliable. But with the added torque lighter weight it should be a fun motor to have in the next gen RX. Or whatever they are putting it in.

Does this mean they are actually going to build it or is it stull all talk?

They are actually building it. Probably have a running ones running around Japan. They had a display at the Tokyo Auto Show last year. Wonder how many liters. Rotors are not as wide but are longer. So a shorter motor front to back but still the same right to left (left to right). Will be lighter.

I want to see one NOW!
