96 mos /100,000 mile Engine Core warranty extension

So I got this letter in the mail from Mazda. White thick parcel envelope that had something of good size in it. I was like what could mazda be sending me that is this big. Well I open it and it's a DVD that reads RX-8 Product Updates. Well I start readin the papers in it and it is marked May 2008 at the top of the letter.

Title is - 2004-2008 RX-8 Rotary Engine Core Limited Warranty Extension Program SSP 77

Basically it is an extension of the warranty for the motor. It extends it to 8 years (96mos) from the original purchase date or to 100,000 miles.

The following is a list of components covered by this warranty.
Rotary Engine Core
-Rotary Housing and internals
- Internal seals and gaskets.

I will watch the DVD later and Try and find an actual online version of the letter. I have to go know so will do that later.

Just received my little DVD, letter, and card from MNAO today. Kinda cool that they've extended the basic engine warranty for another few years. It's only the rotary housing, internal parts, gaskets, and seals. They'll also reimburse for repairs performed when your original warranty expired.

You're quick, I was in the process of doing that. Seems like the mailing must have made it to Colorado finally. Just noticed a post about it on rx8club, a week or so old.

I got mine finally too. The video is pretty indepth. It goes thru the history of the Renesis, how to check the oil, why not to use synthetic, how not to flood the motor, how to dechoke, TPMS, and why to use premium gas. Seems like something they should be giving to RX-8 owners when they first buy the car.

my 2 buddies with their 8's didnt get theirs yet. Must be the first phase of mailing. Im curious as to why they extended the warranty. They know something we dont? Is the Renesis gonna take a dive or something?

They are gonna start useing the 16x and have a REAL MazdaSpeedVersion FI in 2010. That's just a guess. I hope I hope it's true.

Merged...sheesh, took AB long enough to post that! They also got it wrong...Mazda did extend it 8 years, they've just extended it TO 8 years and 100k from the original data of warranty in-service.
