What Is That Smell?

Yeah im out at my dads house in oregon and my mom called me and she flooded my car now it wont start. i told her to go start it one time a day so she does i forgot to tell her not to stop it till its warmed up lol and it will be that way till i get back in 3 weeks. did you start it and stop it in the cold without letting it warm up? if so it might have flooded i had it happen 1 time in the past to me i just hope this time it will start back up when i get home.[/b]

Now that I think about it that's what happened. It was trash day and my husband had to move my car to get the trash out the garage. We've been trying since Saturday to start it and it won't....well it turned on for 5 sec and then shut off. Sucks now that I have to go back to work on Wednesday b/c my maternity leave is finally over.

It took me a while to get mine started after it flooded. By a while, I mean about 15 minutes using the deflooding procedures. If you're still under warranty, give the dealer a call.

Well the ambulance (tow truck) came and got my baby. I did some calling around and my car is still under the factory warranty. The service department won't be able to look at it until Thursday but that's okay b/c they gave me a 2007 6i to enjoy while I wait. It feels so weird driving an automatic. There was about 6 other RX8s sitting in the service department parking lot. I miss her already

Did you accidentally press the brake pedal with your left foot? One time I got so used to driving the 8 that when I got into my moms car I pressed the brakes with my left foot. I couldn't stop cracking up.

interesting, I have actually tried to put the clutch in and shift in my auto, I took an 8 year hiatus from manual cars but still kept my hand on the gear shifter as it was an old habit.

No but I keep reaching for the clutch and all I'm pressing on is the footrest especially when I'm trying to park it in the garage which is on a hill. I always have my hand on the shift knob when I'm about to take off. It's irritating and it feels so complicated especially since they've changed the style of the automatic. You can't just go from park straight down to drive..it's like a maze now. I did the most embarrassing thing at the dealer. I meant to go to drive but I put it in reverse and pressed the gas Good thing nothing was behind me! They should've just gave me a stick!

I've been known to mash the brake pedal in an automatic with my left foot when searching for the clutch...

I always keep my hand on the shifter in any auto I drive. Except when it's on the steering column, then my hand rests on the center counsel.
