make sure your letting the RX get to full operating temp before turning it off. They don't like the cold. But they still should start pretty easliy. if you had the recal done last year, you shouldn't have a cold start issue. Most of the time, its it wasn't warm all the way before you turn it off. Also i learned to rev mine to 3000 rpm for about 5 seconds before turning it off, just to help blow the carbon out of the motor. never gave me any trouble.

I usually do all of the above. I had been out and about prior to parking it in the garage before we left, so it was up to operating temperature then. When I got back, it didn't seem like the battery was weak or anything, the thing just cranked forever (using the 10 second intervals, etc) It started last night without issue, although it seemed to take a little longer than normal.

yeah they crank a ton when its cold. should fire though. Make sure your blowing the carbon out of the motor as well every time you turn it off.. Rev to 3k hold for 5 or so seconds left off until motor stops and then turn off the car.. That may help a little bit. RX's will crank forever when its cold, there are times where it will take 2 or 3 cranking *10 sec* cycles to get it to fire. Normal.

I also flooded my engine the first year i had the car. I would consider chaing your plugs. I talked with a friend that was an rx8 tech with lakewood a while ago and he said that when a rx comes in for flooding, they change the plugs because it can foul them.
Just a consideration. In no way am i an expert.
