Speaking of learning new things, I need to learn how to "properly" detail a car. I have my trusty Dawn dishwashing soap (if you've never tried it, it really works well!), a hand towel and some tire stuff and it seems to work okay, but I'd love to know how it's done the right way!

Oh Im being nice I'm just sad for your paint... I live close come by sometime (My dad details show cars for a living so don't take it mean i just cringe when i hear dish soap.)

Understood. I figured it would make some people cringe. It is, afterall, not meant for cars.

I've used Dawn, and have read about a lot of detailers using it. It strips everything off and preps the paint for a "full" detail... Clay/polish/etc. But, yeah, don't use it if you want your wax to stay on the car!

so does a claybar... granted dawn is a lot easier than claybarring your car...
