I just don't have that "special" cable. I'll bring my camcorder/tape next time at a Meet though for you to mess with it.

Canon doesn't include firewire 1394 cable with their camcorders, which is required to import MiniDV onto your computer.
You can use USB, but only for the pictures or videos taken on the SD card.
