I was wondering who interested on a tuning session with Steve Kan. I have notice a lot of cars getting build and at one point they need to get tuned. There is no Rotary Tuning Experts in Colorado so if we get enough guys we can fly Steve Kan to CO. Here is his guidelines for the group tuning request.
Again this is just a feeler.
Please follow these guidelines to help us assist you.
Please include the following in your post:
1) Location
2) Number of cars
3) Window of time that you would prefer service to take place
You will need at least a minimum of 5 cars before locking a date. Typically, at least 1-2 cars will drop out before the tuning session. Try to get as many cars as you can in your area before making a commitment.
We have a garage section for users to post their cars and the mods done to them. This helps Steve Kan in preparation for the tuning session and gives him an idea what he will be working with. So please consider having all members involved sign up and load their cars into our garage.
Here's the pricing structure.
Tuning costs:
$350 - Stock Turbo up to 12psi of boost (pump gas only) 1 map
$400 - Aftermarket Turbo up to 16psi of boost (pump gas only) 1 map
$450 - Aftermarket Turbo from 16psi - 25psi of boost (race gas and/or auxiliary injection only) 1 map
$600 - Aftermarket Turbo up to 25psi of boost (pump gas and race gas tune) 2 maps
On all tuning sessions there is a Non-refundable $200 deposit.
Additional costs will be applied for dyno time. Most tunes take anywhere from 1-3hrs.

You know I tune right Eduardo?
Nonetheless, Kan is a great tuner. Prices are kind steep though.
I know you do, lol. Not trying to knock you down, I got nothing but love for you lol. I know a lot of rotary owners would like this guy to tune their shit. Maybe hes just overrated.

I've heard mixed reviews on Steve. It wasn't really about his tune though, it was more about him being shady by starting to tune people right around the corner from RX7.com after they trained him and asked him to not do that. Something like that. Anyway, I'm waiting to see what Dave does with my car this upcoming weekend. If there is something he can't figure out I may let Steve tune it, but only street tuning haha.

I have a very specific opinion about this, but I will keep it to myself and only say that I have seen before and after cars that Kan has tuned and he definitely has the resources (ie- a lot of developed tables) to very quickly and easily get you very decently tuned, and he has probably tuned more PFC's than anyone else in the country, so he SHOULD have those well-developed tables.
Personally I do not listen to internet opinions or stories about tuners or shops much, but I KNOW he made good as much as he could (at least tried) to many who were part of the Gotham Racing debacle, which to me was significant since the others involved just walked away leaving a path of BS for others to deal with.
Would I pay (or suggest anyone pay) for him to tune thier car? No, because I believe it to be a false economy driven by internet legend- much like the Sean from Torque Freaks back in the days.
Would I tell someone not to have Kan tune his car? No, the guy does a good job and its your car and your money, do as you wish.
1986 Turbo FC race car, S6 13b, GOOPY Apex seals etc, GT35R, AEM EMS, lots more good stuff

Kan doesn't do street tuning, at least not away from his home base.
Also, if there is something mechanically wrong with your car, Kan refuses to touch it (i.e. if you TB needs mechanical adjustment, or you get a boost leak) and I've heard of him refusing to tune people even after they fix the issue due to "time constraints".
Again, not trying to kick sand or anything, anyone can get tuned by anyone and it doesn't bother me- this isn't my profession and just a hobby of mine, so no skin off my back.
