New house!

Postby Huzer » Fri Nov 20, 2015 9:14

Well, we're moving. We found a house closer to my son's school, and since neither my wife or I have a commute, we deciding to eliminate the one other commute we have. Our house went on the market and was under contract before the end of the weekend. I can't believe the market right now, it's crazy!

We're excited, but the only downside is that we close on our house Dec 18...and we don't close on the new one until Jan 5th. The sellers asked if we could delay closing until then, that's when they could get in an apartment. We agreed, since our house wasn't even on the market yet, and we though an extra couple of weeks might help us out. Oops! So, we're heading from grandma's for a couple of weeks while we're "homeless". As such, we've been quite busy! Packing, showing our house, etc. Thus, no new Cougar news. Our neighbor has offered up his garage to park the car while we're out of town.

The new house has a three car garage. Not huge, but bigger than my current garage. It'll be fun to plan the layout of another garage. Hopefully, we can have a few folks over once we get settled in. It'd be nice to get together with some car folks!

Congrats. I was wondering if that is why you haven't been around these parts lately.

Any pics or link for the new house?

No pictures yet, as we haven't moved. Here's the listing for the house: https://www.redfin.com/CO/Broomfield/28 ... e/35502811

Listed price isn't what we paid, of course. We did pretty well on our home sale. We bought at the absolute bottom of the market in 2009. The only house in our neighborhood that was purchased for less was an unfinished foreclosure that had been in a lien dispute for years due to flood damage from a shoddy roof installation. We sold our house for the highest price per sq ft (or close to it) for houses in our neighborhood.

We already have projects in mind. Full hardwood on the main level, relandscape the backyard. The current owners are an older couple that didn't want any grass. We'll be pulling out most of the river rock and putting in grass. We're going to move the fence closer to the driveway to extend the backyard a little bit, too. Other than that, updating some fixtures/paint/etc.

Thanks! For this one, it's all about location. The little dude's school is a K-12, so we'll be there awhile. Nice not to have that commute and be able to walk to school. It's also a little quieter than our current house. Zuni is quite a busy street now so we get a lot of road noise.

Well, this sucks. Buyer of our house fell through 2 days before closing, couldn't get approved. Unless a miracle pops up, we won't be moving after all.

Yep, 2/3 of our house is in Pods, we are heading out to NC for Christmas...that trip was only scheduled due to the difference in closing dates. Now it's turning out to be a whole lot of money and time we didn't need to spend. I guess we can reallly clean our house now that it's nearly empty.

Are you planning to put your house back up for sale?

Any way to still buy that house you have the contract on?

Seems like a deadline for approval should have e;lapsed well before closing.

Sorry to hear Huzer. Enjoy the time with family!

Our house went back on the market today. We already have one offer over asking, just waiting for it to show up in writing, as it was a verbal. 7 showings tomorrow. We'll be on a plane during all of the showings, so we'll see what happens with those.

Hopefully all of the dates still work out!

We moved the loan objection deadline once. Then, it became apparent that the buyer wasn't going to be approved. We moved it again when they said they were 99% done with an additional buyer on the loan, and could then close on the 23rd, only to have that fall apart.
