Extended the close on the new house until Jan 25. Phew! Bad situation made good. Realtor has talked with the lender of the new folks, so should have no issues this time around.

That's great. Chances of that happening again are very little.

Were those first people not preapproved?

They were, so apparently the lender's preapproval process is junk.

The people on our new house were not excited to extend, but they were very sympathetic and nice about it. After speaking with the lender for the buyers of our house, we feel fairly good about this one. Just a bummer that we spent the money we did (flying to NC because we were supposed to be "homeless", an extra month of Pods storage, etc. Thankfully the difference in offers we accepted more than makes up for it, at least. I'm just glad that everything appears to be solid for the end of month close.

You got the keep the earnest money from the first buyer right? ... Or they got it back because of the "good faith" thing?
When we sold our old house earlier this year, our Realtor listed our house with 5K earnest money deposit to make sure the buyers are serious. If they back out then we would have plenty of money to cover any expenses. It was sold in 4 days.

I hope this one works out for you guys.

And finally, I have moved. We closed on the 20th on both houses. Moving was hectic, as Pods forgot to call prior to coming and picking up the second Pod. I stuffed what I could in there and ended up making a few trips to the new house with the truck prior to closing on it.

That people that lived here were slobs, so it's been a lot of deep cleaning so far. I'd list what I have planned, but it's a long list so far.

eewwww slobs. Get those bathrooms and the kitchen cleaned pronto, lol. I hate cleaning toilets that other people used.

Clorox wipes are you friends.

Those were the first things we did. Kitchen has been decontaminated, bathrooms done. Replaced all of the toilet seats. I've scrubbed most of the baseboards on the main level. Getting a paint quote today.

I have the Cougar in one stall. I should have enough boxes cleared out to get at least one other vehicle in there today. The Pods will be gone this afternoon.

We can now walk to school. It's a nice half mile walk there, so my little one gets a 1 mile round trip walk in per day, and the pup gets a couple of miles in, just on school walks. The view is nice, and I'm looking forward to being able to use the rear deck! It's plumbed for natural gas. The sellers left behind a Kingsford charcoal grill that I'll be getting rid of. If anyone wants one, you can have it!

Congrats!
Market is nuts. Brother just bought a place south of Co Springs that only went up for sale the day before...

We closed 3 weeks ago today. So far, the main common areas are all painted. Once we come up with paint ideas for bedrooms, I'll get those painted. We've replaced the carpet upstairs. Hardwood gets delivered on Friday and the install of that on the main level will follow the wood acclimation. Once that's done, we can finally finish moving furniture in.

I've been replacing the window treatments, toggle switches with rockers, outlet plates, etc. I need to design/build our master closet solution. It's been fun, but it's taken away from Cougar time!

My pup loves the backyard. We have a split rail fence, not a privacy, and he gets to watch people walk by, etc. Thankfully, he's not a barker.

Look at Ikea for the closet solution. They do have a nice line for closets with a ton of style choices.

Are rockers considered a more updated look than toggles? What's the draw of changing them?

Might I ask who's supplying the carpet and hardwood?

We are also in the process of going from toggles to rockers. They are a cleaner look to most. I also find they are easier to switch with my hands full.

Have the downstairs done, upstairs to go.
