Cruise Suggestions...

Postby vierte » Thu Mar 28, 2013 9:14

Next week I'll be heading to the Florida Keys for a few days then a cruise to Belize, Cosumel, Rotan, and the Cayman Islands. This is my first cruise and first visit to most of these places.. Has anyone been? Anyone have any cruise tips? How did you smuggle your booze on? lol. I trust you guys because you all have an unfounded Mazda addiction and therefore must be reasonable people! I was thinking of renting a scooter at one of the destinations and do a little bit of exploring.

Just got back recently from a similar one-- Belize/Cozumel. Which outfit/ship will you be on?

Re: booze. I believe we were allotted two bottles of wine. Don't put booze in water bottles, they've been known to find those. You can try to be creative with RumRunners...
It's all in the creative presentation/packing.

Going on the Carnival Liberty ship... what are the odds that a 3rd ship breaks down in like 3 months? lol.. I'm probably jinxing it.

I might have figured out a way to get booze into a winebottle... and look unmodified.. You've been to Belize, would you recommend renting a scooter and exploring a little? I know some places it's a little sketchy to do that.

Hmmm...noice.

Well, the part of Belize you're going to is sketchy. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable exploring, but that's just me. There are cruise forums, I'd suggest poking your head around there. We ended up booking a cave tubing tour and had fun....pretty cool scenery, they feed you some good home-down cookin' and get you liquored up on rum- before taking you back to the ship, whee!

Keep us posted yo!

I took the same cruise you're about to go on a few years ago. They're all pretty awesome places! I'd agree with tut, the cave tubing is pretty awesome.

For smuggling alcohol, we put ours in the bladder of a couple Camelbacks. They weren't checked once.

Wow Colorado, great weather to return to after 2 weeks in the Caribbean! So it was surprisingly easy to smuggle booze onto the ship. I packed 2 bottles of whiskey in my suitcase and was going to use one bottle as a decoy if they held my bag.. but it showed up to the room no problem. 3 other people with me did the same thing. I was also able to buy a flask and walk right onto the ship with it in my back pocket. Terribly simple.

Aside from that had a great time! Rented scooters in Grand Caymen, it's pretty damn hard to reteach yourself to drive on the left side of the road!

Wow, I've always heard the opposite. The Mrs. was caught with vodka in a water bottle...
