I think as a card carrying conservative, you're definitely more apt to notice the back room deals of a rival party a little more than your own. Especially since the news sources you use cater to you. There's hypocrisy in each party. Disinformation from all "news" sources.

It's all about the cycle: bitch about the rival party that's in power, then, once you're in power, bitch about how the other party is always attacking you for no good reason. Haters! By the people, for the people is long gone. The economic gains achieved by politicians in power makes sure of that, regardless of political affiliation.

It's all perception. I'm frustrated at the current administration, but perception is what makes opinions so different.

For example... since Tut likes this one :P

Most Republicans vote that way because they want conservative government. They want a government that is small, and essentially not as involved in our individual rights.

This is great, up until you talk about something like Abortion. Then the thought process changes completely. That same person, who wants conservative government, now wants government to intervene.

But that same person will also (likely) be pro death penalty. Which could be perceived as another contradiction. You want Abortion outlawed to preserve life, but are OK with destroying a life that was deemed guilty.

Politics are never cut and dry, there's never a perfect solution.

I'm pro choice... but only to a point. But I am also Pro Death penalty... to a point. Neither situation is a simple yes or no and each must be carefully evaluated. I'm conservative in my viewpoint though, in that I don't want government outlawing either. There needs to be evaluation... suppose that makes be a liberal conservative ;)

I actually have ceased feeding into media outlets that cater to my own viewpoints.

I agree about things never being cut and dry. But I will make this argument (so to speak) a cut and dry one.

The unborn are defenseless and deserve the same chance at life, that you and I were given.
When someone chooses to commit heinous crimes of disgusting nature, they forefeit their own life/rights (imo).

Two totally different things-- but I see the point you were makingB)

yup, all interpretation. One could argue that any form of contraception would fit into your above argument though. Do you draw the line at the day after pill? or other forms of immediate contraception?

And do you trust the system enough to determine that the person being put to death is truly the person who committed the crime? Because that has happened as well.

I can't believe Hick. Sign anti-gun bills, but then allow murderer more rights. I'd bet he gives Homes a no-death penalty ticket too.

I honestly don't know how I feel about that. I am an Eagle Scout, so I spent a lot of time in the program. I think they have to tread lightly. The Scouting program is gender specific, unlike the military. When the entire program is young males, it could create a very volatile atmosphere. It's a tough political situation to be sure.

I concur moose, it is a delicate situation.

Mr. Geo, just because I don't support something, doesn't mean the Light I love is any less bright.

fuuu.... the last thing we need in Scouts is GINGERS!!!!! They have no souls!

HAHA. j/k

It's a tough situation for the BSA to be in. Will the kids, or young adults, feel awkward around a peer that has announced himself as gay? Will that person make themselves a target for hazing, bullying, etc? Does it present a problem with camping trips, or summer-camps where a openly gay scout has to share a tent with a non gay scout. It's just a weird situation. This isn't talking about grown adults either, it's teenage kids or younger. Impulses drive their actions a lot, which is why it's still BOYscouts, with separation of female and male scouts.

BTW, I'm not sexist, racist, or homophobic. I've had many gay coworkers, and really don't care. It's all about what is appropriate. Gay dudes tend to want to advertise their orientation to the world more than females, and in many ways it is NOT appropriate. Ladies seem to keep it as more of normal situation. That's that way it should be IMO. GAY pride is extremely stupid. If you want to be treated normally, act normally. Whether your spouse/sig other is same sex or opposite sex, treat the situation like they are your sig other... nothing more.

I thought "Scouts" integrated the girls with the boys when the girls wanted to be so integrated. I believe this occurred right around the time I stopped participating. Had nothing to do with inclusion of girls.

I could give two ishes(proper usage yet to be determined) who is in a tent with me. They aren't in my sleeping bag.
