Maybe you need to take her out with someone that can teach her how to safely and properly shoot firearms. Usually they'll change their minds after they went out shooting with someone/people that are responsible firearm owners. Or take a firearm safety course that involve actual shooting. My friend and I took his friend and his wife (afraid of guns) out shooting one time and she's OK with it now. My wife was the exact same way too. As long as she realize that if you know how to handle it safely, there's nothing to be afraid of.

The GSG is a blast to shoot. And, if someone were to pick it up, i have seen folks do a swap to the naval MP5 lower, making it full auto. lol.

I wish shoot experience was the problem. She's a public defender, and they run them through a no-joke firearms and ballistics course. It was at least a week long, might have been 2. She's fired just about every gun in common use and a few that aren't. Actually had pretty good groupings, too. She's read enough police reports about people doing stupid things with guns (accidental shootings in particular) that she doesn't want them around while we've got kids in the house.

Yup. Can't even sell them or give the mags to anyone legally. But there's no way to prove they didn't have the mags prior to July either. And if the gun wasn't purchased in the last several months, then who's to say the private sale didn't occur in January or something (prior to background check law passing)

Justin,
I agree.... Get her somewhere safe to learn or do a class. Even if you don't own any. My range offers very professional classes and even one that deals with protection and not actual firearm use in the class.

I think she's looking at this the wrong way. She shouldn't be looking at all the incident reports instead look at how many millions gun owners are out there and how few these things happens and how many safe lives. We have kids in the house too - 5 and 2. Obviously, everything is locked up in the safe but I told my oldest that if she want to see them just let me know. She see me clean them after a day of shooting all the time. No big deal to her. I just bought a Nerf gun over the weekend to teach them (mostly my oldest for now) gun safety. Got to teach them young and make it their second nature when it come to safety. I don't want it to be a taboo then when they see one, they would want to play with it because its taboo and without knowing how to handle them safely. I talked to my wife about that same thing and she eventually agrees with me. Just my opinion.

Look at what happened with Adam and Eve and the forbidden fruit... lol

biometric safe or button-combo safe. I have a friend with 3 kids and he has a standing safe to lock his "play" firearms. But his defensive/home protection pistol is in something like this
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Gunvault-GV1000D-Mini-Vault-Deluxe/dp/B002HOLG2I"]Amazon.com: Gunvault GV1000D Mini Vault Deluxe Gun Safe: Home Improvement[/ame]

They make a biometric one, to where you can program only you and your wife's prints.

Best part is that there is a light to let you know if it has been tampered with... ie kids trying to open it. He's come home many times and found it flashing. Awful truth is that kids are curious, so it's piece of mind when you have guaranteed safety.

those safe's look like a good idea for my nightstand.

D Walker, I may take you up on looking at those offset irons. Do you recall which manufacturer they are? A friend has me pretty well convinced to run my buis in line cowitnessed to facilitate resiting if something happens to a scope or reflex sight.

Meeting another member today to borrow some MBUS.

I gave my shotgun away to my father inlaw as a gift. I hadn't shot it in the time since I purchased it, so I figured WTH.

Dude! So funny, same here. The one gun I owned (shotgun) I had for 7 years and never fired, I gave it to my mum's bf for Christmas.
