Alright well i am looking for an Audi s4 i know this is all mazdas and wish i could get another one but i also love s4's. Anywhere from 2000 to 2005. So if anyone knows of any please let me know.

Price range?

Uuummmmm i would rather not go abouve 14k but i know that will be hard. the hardest thing is going to be finding one with less than 100k miles.

Why do you think a vehicle that was 60k new is now available so cheap? Because they are complete piles of crap.

I wouldn't go so far as to call the B5 S4 a pile of crap....... While it does have issues for a 10-14 year old car, not everyone of them has gremlins. Have the car thoroughly inspected, and be on your way........ They are one of the most sought after, used Audi's.

I would say this more or less accurate for the pre 04 S4's with the 2.7TT motor, but the newer S4's with the V8 were much, much better engine wise.

Depends on what you mean by better? More reliable yes, being a NA and newer doesn't hurt. Modiability, which most of us here are into, and the choice goes back to the TT B5 S4.

And the B5 S4 being 10+ years old, once again is one reason a $60k car is now under $20k. But the modded well maintained S4's are going for more. BMW M3's from the same time frame have depreciated under the $20k mark also.

Sorry Dave, I guess I didn't clarify, I meant reliability and maintenance wise.

How can either of you seriously think the V8 S4 is more reliable? They have serious overheating issues and even when new they were in the shop constantly. Do a little research and you will find that piston failure, head gaskets, and a myriad of other issues are more than common. Any car you buy will have heat related wiring and plumbing issues down the road. They are literally #1 on my list of cars to never own out of warranty.
I have a B5 S4 2.7tt in the shop right now, and these things are horrible. I had a close friend purchase a low-milage locally owned car (because he liked the looks) about a year ago and he got rid of it within 6 months because he could see where it was headed- massive and frequent repair bills.
Honestly, about the best car Audi has produced in the last 10 years are the 4-banger turbo cars, the 1.8T and 2.0T. This is just about the most reliable and trouble free engine in thier lineup, and is "almost" reasonable to repair.

I pretty much do research everyday, surfing Audizine, and reliability wise the B6/B7 S4 is a more reliable car than the 10-14 year old bi-turbo. I didn't say it was perfect or without faults, but maintenance wise the V8 S4 guys haven't run into as many issues as the TT S4 crew. And European cars as a whole are known to be expensive to maintain...... But I've been to many meets and gtg's with B5 S4 that were running like champs. So the "blanket statement" that they are crap I just don't agree with. If I want a more reliable 10-14 year old car, I'd get a import (Toyota, Honda, some Nissan's, a Mazda). But if you're into performance oriented cars and awd a B5 S4 isn't a bad way to go.

I guess if your prepared to deal with it, fine. Would not be my first choice.

I would agree with operator. i mean if i didnt want a car to mod or never really have any problems with i would get a honda and im pretty sure i know how we all feel about honda or atleast me lol. I want a car i have always wanted and able to mod if i ever wanted to (which will happen) Me pearsonaly i want to mod one. And this is pretty much the only car insurance will allow me to get that isnt really considered a sports car.
