Hey guys, I hate to ask this but is there anyway some of you might be bored next weekend and be able to help me move? I'm going from Westminster to Littleton. I will provide food and beer! I might be able to offer something else in exchange for help too like gas money or something. Any help would be soo appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Do you need help in terms of manpower to move large items help or people with vehicles to help transport items help? Or both?

Either and or. All I have is my car. I will rent a trailer or truck if need be. And unfortunately all I have is three ladies from the office that I think are going to help. It's not a big place and there's not too much stuff but I'm not as agile as I once was

I can try to head up and help out. When are you moving? I don't have school on the 23rd, but I work both the 23rd from 4-9pm and 24th from 5-10pm, and idk about Sunday yet. Might be taking my car in on the 23rd though.

Indeed it is. I saw the notice on mysubaru.com. Already took it in for the recall though. Now it needs an oil change, and there's a strange noise in coming from the engine bay after starting up the car (especially after it has been sitting for a while) that doesn't sound pleasant at all. Not exactly sure what it could be. The sound seems to go away as the engine gets warmed up. I've read about piston slap in the EJ engines, but I'm not sure if that is applicable to my EJ253 or not. And I've also read it might be something with the belt tensioner, but again, I'm not sure. I'm going to take it down to Suba Performance on Blake St and see what they say.

Hey, I just noticed from your post that you have a new car! Congrats! BTW, if you ever need help with mods, I had a legacy too so I know it kind of like the back of my hand.

Sweetness. I love my new car. Not nearly as much fun as my Mazda was to drive, but it will be nice for the winter and makes a good, reliable DD. I think I'm going to have to keep it mostly stock though. My parents flipped out about a little radar detector and don't want me installing my sub again because my sister is opposed to it, and technically we share the car so if she doesn't want it, then it doesn't happen. (However, I plan to install the stereo stuff again this weekend and hope my parents don't notice I installed it, they almost never get in the car with me, and I'll just swap the stock radio back in and take out the amp and sub when my sister is home on break). They know I sold my old amp, but not that I got a new one, or that I bought a set of hood dampers and installed them.
I'm up to help out for a bit if it's on Saturday or possibly Sunday. My dad made the appointment for me to bring my Legacy to Suba Performance on Friday for the oil change and to find out what the sound coming from the engine is. Not sure how long it will take to figure out what the problem with the engine is. I work 5-10 on Saturday, so I would be available until about 3:30 or so on Friday. I don't know about my work schedule for Sunday though, and won't know until this Thursday. Chances are I should have Sunday off, but sometimes the scheduling doesn't work for me to have Sundays off like I want, so we'll have to see.

piston slap is a problem with all of the boxer motors it is in the way they were designed, a little won't really harm it as they built in a tolerance for it but if it gets pretty loud then it defiantly needs to have a look at.

Awesome, thanks for that. I do appreciate it! I'll PM you my number and we can go from there!
BTW, are you on the LGT forums now?

I am on the LGT forums now, same username as here
I've read about the piston slap in the boxer engines. I've read about it being fairly common in some engines, but mostly the older ones. I've read that it is most common in like 97-99 DOHC boxer engines and also in 00-04 SOHC ones, and my 08 SOHC doesn't fall in that category. I'm just concerned because it can be quite loud at times, and I have no idea what the piston slap sounds like so it might not be piston slap.

it will get louder as the weather gets colder, especially when you first start up the car and the engine is still cold, mine in my old engine only came around when it was below 32 degrees and only when the car was not yet warmed up. It does mostly affect those era engines but can affect any boxer engine due to the way the piston sits in the cylinder compared to a inline or v engine.

Yeah. I figure that just better to be safe than sorry. I don't know enough about these engines to be sure if it is piston slap or not, and I'd rather not find out that it was something besides piston slap all along if the engine decides to blow up in my face. If they say that it's just piston slap, well that solves that and easy squeezy lemon peasy problem solved. If not, well better to fix it now than need a new EJ253.
