Anime/Manga Thread

Postby Ryanmmacoustic » Wed Mar 30, 2011 9:14

So I'm a pretty big anime fan, and I read a lot of manga as well.

Favorite Anime:

The Evangelion series is phenomenal.
Blood: The Last Vampire is awesome.
Anything by Hayao Miyazaki is great.
My Neighbor Totoro.
Spirited Away.
Howl's Moving Castle....just to name a few.
Afro Samurai is probably my favorite Anime series, it is visually spectacular and the storyline is top notch as well.
The Boondocks is technically an Anime series, it was drawn and animated in Japan.
Tekkonkinkreet is another great one.
Robotech.
Initial D.
I still watch Dragonball Z from time to time.
Summer Wars is another one that i have watched recently, great film.

Does anyone else on here watch Anime or read Manga?

Claymore was interesting.

I have a few in my Netflix queue that's supposed to be good but haven't got the time to watch them yet.

Big anime fan. I liked it, but then by happenstance got involved with college sci-fi club that happened to have members who founded a big anime convention, and I got pulled into that for quite a few years before moving away.

So many good anime, here are a few that I thought were great (omitting titles already mentioned, boldfacing personal top picks but really they're all excellent):

Akira (movie)
Bird the Mighty Decode
Cowboy Bebop
FLCL
Future Boy Conan
Genshiken
Juuni Kokki
Kino's Travels
Kurau
Last Exile
Lupin III - The Castle of Cagliostro (movie)
Macross Plus (OAV)
Mononoke Hime (movie)
Mushishi
Nadia
Nausicaa (movie)
Paprika (movie)
Patlabor TV / OAV2
Planetes
Time of Eve (OAVs/movie)

But yeah, other favorites (already mentioned): Neon Genesis Evangelion, Death Note, Ghost in the Shell (movies but especially TV series),
