So that was part 1 where's part 2? The good thing about for RX-8 driveres in the springs is.... if they were able to get out and drive they sould have never made it one foot past the base of the hill. I hought the diesel would have made it but he was just going too slow lost momentum.

I've goten stuck on a steep hill in my 8 like that last year. All streets where clear of snow accept for some side streets. The one side street I needed to go to was all ice and I had to get up it from a roll. First try I did like 10mph comig out of the corner got half way up then back down I went. Luckily no one else was drivng behind me. I went back down the street and come up to the turn wide doing about 20-25mph. Held the throttle steady and I made it up.

Smart guy in the Caddy.kept the tires going. Didn't lock them up.

Several years ago, there was a similar video of cars sliding down a road in the snow/ice. It looks like the same street.

Here it is:

I've seen this before in similar sliding vehicle videos. It must be a common misconception, because it happens often enough... My answer: people who don't grasp physics. I've seen shots of people opening the driver's door and trying to stop the car from sliding with their SHOES, thinking that'll somehow work where their four tires don't...

Jumping from the car, though. They're seriously messed-up in their thinking if they think they're safer without the 1-2 ton steel cocoon and restraints. I half expected that one girl to slam into her own open driver's door after the car stopped. It's just... Darwin's Award material, IMO. But always good for a youtube laugh, I guess!

crazy... that video made CNN.com's front page yesterday, had me terrified while driving but the snow-trucks did a great job clearing the highways and major streets in Denver

I took the Miata out a couple times last night and got around no problem, even on a fairly big hill right by my house (not the one in the video). There was enough snow on top of the ice that I was able to get some traction.

Roads today aren't bad at all. Half iced, half clear on the major roads, I25 was dry almost the whole way from Colorado Springs to Denver.
