Why did you replace the stair treads?

We are installing oak treads like the lower stair. The old stair had box stringers and was carpet covered. The new stair has open stringers with skirtboards and oak treads.

the treads in the last pic are temporary. The risers will be painted white.

I also spoke with the flooring intaller and he is getting me an estimate.

Looks great. It boggles my mind knowing what the price per square of flooring is vs. stairs treads.

Is this your first kid? The nursery looks good. It's a big step when it's finally done, congrats.
