18th car at age 36? Wow, so you go through cars at about the same rate as I do... every time I buy a car I tell myself I'm going to hang onto it for a while, it just never works out lol. Hopefully the STI will be different, I actually would have kept my WRX if it wouldn't have kept having problems, I kept it the longest at a full 2 years. Hopefully my STI will remain problem free *knock on wood* Although I don't have much in the way of a "project" in store for the STI, it's pretty damn impressive in stock form, I'll probably just pick up a TBE, tune it (haven't decided on what flavor of EM...) and call it a day.

I don't suppose you have a "master list" of your former cars?

I'm bored and waiting for work stuff, so I'll wing it:

1972 Chevy C10
1979 GMC Sierra Shortbed
1982 Datsun/Nissan Sentra
1985 Honda CRX Si
1985 Jeep Cherokee
1967 Mustang Convertible
1989 Honda CRX Si
1993 Ford Thunderbird
1969 Ford Bronco
1996 GMC Yukon
1979 MG MGB
2002 Toyota Tundra
2003 Ford Mustang
1989 Chevy K5 Blazer
1990 Saab 900 Turbo
1985 Dodge Ramcharger
2005 Mazda 6i
2004 Mazda RX-8
2001 Volvo V70XC
2012 Toyota Tundra 5.7 4x4
1992 Mazda Miata
2014 Ford Focus ST
2015 Toyota Tacoma DCSB TRD Sport 4x4
1967 Mercury Cougar 289 3spd Dan Gurney Special

The old trucks were a riot, big muscle just lumbering around. The Mustang was the first car I helped build. After that, I built the Bronco, Ramcharger, MG, K5, and modded the Saab a little bit. The 2 CRXs were a freakin' blast. Loved 'em both.

Bikes:
Yamaha Seca 650
Honda XR100, 250, 400
Honda CBR900RR
Honda CBR600F2

The F2, I rebuilt after it was stolen from my roomie in Virginia. It was recovered 3 years later, and he only had liability on it, so when the bike was found, it was returned to him. He then gave it to me! Sweet fast little bugger. I rode his GSXR600 more than he did, too.

The RX-8 will be the newest car that I do quite a bit of work to. Should be fun.

Yeah CRX's are fun little cars to drive! My little brother had a CRX, 1990 IIRC, that we did a little bit of work to. At first he had a cam (Zex I think?!?), AEM CAI (that I bought him for one of his birthday's lol), header from an Integra, custom exhaust, a D16 VTEC head & VTEC controller and a couple little parts we picked up here and there. He was living down in Houston, and I made sure to get him a CAI that was reversible to a SRI (AEM) for the heavy rains they get down there, and told him not to drive in heavy rain with it in CAI.... he didn't listen, sucked water into the intake during a heavy rain.... for about a week after his car was shooting out white smoke, I was surprised it didn't pop the motor on the spot... then we were making a freeway pull, to see how his CRX would do against my MR2, and as I started pulling on him, I noticed in my rear view he was pulling off to the side of the road.... by the time I made it to where his car was, he had his hood popped open, there was a big hole in the side of the block, one of his rods let go, went through the side of the block and through the radiator.... we found a dirt cheap radiator that weekend, and ended up sourcing a ZC motor that we swapped into his CRX, which felt a bit better than the d16 it came with.

It was actually a pretty easy swap, some people referred to Honda's as "the Lego's of motor swaps" lol, I don't even think it took us a full 5 hours to get it up and running, as the ZC allowed us to use the factory wiring harness. For anyone who doesn't know, the ZC motor is a DOHC 1.6L non-VTEC motor that came in some of the JDM CRX's. We wanted to swap in a B-series motor, but were too broke to afford the full swap lol. Anyway, good times [img]http://coloradomazdaclub.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif[/img]

Man, you guys suck. Wish I could get new cars all the time.

I'm 41 and I've owned:

1978 Datsun (That's right, DATSUN) 210SL
1992 Escort
1989 Civic Hatch (In Japan...JDM version...hella fun car)
1991 Camry (In Japan)
1998 Windstar (Wife's car)
1986 Blazer (bought in 98 -- hella fun off-roader)
2000 Windstar (Wife's car)
1991 Explorer (not so great off-roader)
2004 MPV (Wife's car)
2004 6S (My current DD)
2007 CX-9 WIfe's car

Please notice that I buy my WIFE more cars than I buy myself, AND that hers are ALWAYS new. The 6 is the first NEW car I've had since 1992, and while it's a great car, I REALLY REALLY REALLY want a true performance car now. I'm waiting with baited breath on the new 6, but am leaning towards a used SUV for winter driving and the new Camaro SS when it comes out...but who knows. I change my mind like Brandon changes cars.

I think, prior to this car, one of the cars I enjoyed the most was the Saab. A few mods to that, and while not a lightning bolt it was a fun, quick-ish car. I bought the car used, in 2004 to use as a commuter. It had 107k on it at the time, and the entire service history, from it's first oil change receipt to the last. It was extremely well taken car of. When the tranny went kablooie on it, I wanted to keep it, but it didn't make sense at the time.

The most "looks" I've received in a car is a toss up between the RX-8 and the '67 Mustang. The Bronco was a beast, but definitely not a looker. It would smoke the 35"s like nothing. Haha.

I think the most looks I ever got was in my MR2, as it had a Tom's body kit on it. It was the only car I've ever owned with a body kit lol, although it was on the car when I bought it, and Tom's is more of a JDM Toyota/OEM based tuner company so it was pretty clean. I can't find a pic, but it was a blue-ish/silver color, and this is a pic of the body kit that was on it, my MR2 also had T-tops like this one:

I had a lot of people ask me what it was, they were always surprised when I told them it was a Toyota lol.

Not a problem man, although there's only 1 more break-in tip I forgot to give you, make sure not to let the motor spin at the same RPM for long periods of time. In other words, if you're on the freeway on a decently long trip, within the car's first 500-1000 miles, don't stay in the same gear the entire way, cruise in 6th for a few minutes, then shift to 5th for a minute, then back to 6th ect.

Brandon, you go through cars like Josh changes his underwear... [img]http://coloradomazdaclub.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/53cc21a9.gif[/img] It's good to have you on this board so we can steal your knowledge. Well, my car list as well...

1964 VW Beetle (2165cc, dual carbs...quick sob)
2001 Mercury Cougar (pos 2.5L V6)
2003 Dodge Stratus R/T (6G72...slow as all hell)
2004 Toyota Corolla (ex wife's)
2006 Mazdaspeed 6

I'm 26....and I only count 4 of those as mine. Considering I started driving at 19 (thanks mom/dad!!), I'm on the less-than-2-years-each schedule as well. I'm keeping the Speed6 for a while...but I plan on building another Bug for the track [img]http://coloradomazdaclub.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img]
