Bad thing about working from home is, eventually you get that 'I work from home', 'I never leave' smell.

So 2 weeks ago the ice auger in my 2 year old fridge/freezer stopped working, I tested it in so many ways and tried to figure it out and get it to work again but couldn't.

Ordered the $70 replacement motor, and tonight went through the process of installing the new one, at some point i had the old motor out to, to compare.

I accidentally put the old motor in, re-assembled everything, tested it and it worked! I then saw the new motor sitting on the counter, and realized i put the old one back in, oops!

keeping it as a backup then selling it after a few years...

return it now. You must have fixed it and won't need the new one. By the time this one faulters again, you will be ready for a new fridge/freezer...or you can just get a new motor later when needed. Chances are you won't be able to find the new motor if you need it in the future anyway (that is what would happen with me at least).
