Well my buddies saw my face and they just laughed at me haha. The guy had his back to us, and rightly so haha.
jamiel wrote:Grind my gears- The delta bravo DRUNK driver we watched crash into the median barrier at I-25/HWY 7 early Sat morning while trailering to PPIR. We've seen a couple questionable drivers at that early hour, this guy was DEADLY drunk.
Came up on him in traffic as he was going slow at the time, noticed weaving, then two lane abrupt changes, going slow, speeding up (at least 90, so hard to get a description and plate). Called CSP "very dangerous driver SB I-25, mile marker XXX (10 miles north of Hwy 7)" Stayed behind him when he slowed again.
At HWY 7 where I-25 curves right under the underpass- he didn't. I call CSP again to report the wreck.
He ripped up the front left and slid to a stop all the way over in the right lane of I-25 at the end of the entrance ramp. Glad he didn't take anyone with him.
We stop. When approaching the car, the engine is still revving up and down. I carefully approach hiding behind the A pillar in case the guy is a violent nutjob, and knock on the windows. Driver ignores me. Open the door, tell him he needs to get out (car is blocking I-25). He's so incoherent, he doesn't realize he crashed and stopped, still thinks he's driving- despite the guy standing there with the door open. I reach across the beer cans to turn on the emergency flashers and shut off the car. He restarts it (repeat x3 until I figure out to shift it to P to remove the key). Get him safely out and to the shoulder (fling off my wedding ring waving down a car coming down the onramp while escorting him across- found it later thankfully). I ask him if he's on meds/ insulin/ has a head injury, etc. Dude still thinks he's in the car even while sitting on the guardrail.
Paramedic is first on scene, is talking to him.
Driver: "... when I saw your lights, I pulled over to the side of the road"
Paramedic: "I didn't pull you over, I can't pull you over, I'm a paramedic. You crashed, your car is still in traffic..."
cops take their sweet time arriving <insert rant about BS tickets- but no bleeping cops around when you call in a TRULY dangerous situation>
Cops hook him up. Hopefully they bury the a-hole under the jail.
Glad it's just a good story, and not "I watched a drunk driver kill (you or one of your relatives) Sat morning"
Wow. I hope that guy got severely punished, like never-get-your-license-back punished. But in case he didn't, someone should find him and beat him relentlessly. There is ZERO reason to be driving drunk, much less that drunk.
I also agree with the stupid tickets vs. availability of an officer when you really need them (because they're out handing out useless tickets haha), but I won't go into that any more haha.
