So I guess 6 deployments isn't enough, I just found out I'm going again next May lol. I JUST got back from the same time deployment, and I can only drive the car so many months of the year. And that's why I'm trying to switch with someone else so I can go in September, and the person I'm trying to switch with is the kid that I was deployed with this year and I had to pick up his slack and practically do his job for him. And I outrank him so it shouldn't be a problem HAHA.
I guess the good thing is this deployment will pay off the Civic and buy my new Racing Brake kit for the 7, and some other stuff too. So I'm stoked for that haha.
Wow...

I guess I should clarify HAHA. I'm not doing this just because I outrank him. The reason is because the people I would be going with are all the higher ranking people and it would leave him behind by himself, so he'd be the highest ranking (and ONLY person) as an E-4, and that's if he doesn't get kicked out before that for failing his PT test over and over. Not to mention that he does everything half-assed. To be honest I'm not sure how he's stayed in this long. They made me his supervisor while we were over there this last time and I told them I was going to push for him to get booted when we got back because he has zero respect for authority, even officers TO THEIR FACES, barely does his job, and he's overweight (although I think that's a BS reason for the AF, it's not like our lives depend on being able to run like it does for 11B lol).
I'm not one to use my rank or position either, I'm not doing this just because I outrank him or just because I don't want to go in the summer. I'll have plenty of years after I retire to be here or in the US in general during the summer. It just doesn't make sense to send all your high ranking people on one deployment. I mean, we're not in danger there or anything, but you need to leave some rank behind in garrison too. And because of that I'm hoping that it works out in my favor for going the end of the year LOL.

he is in 2nd brigade, because my unit is deployed right now. i had to come home early due to my 8month old sons health which has improved and now he is doing fine so since iraq is a drawdown hopefuly i get to stay home until they get back in march

Wow
6 deployments, damn, that sucks. Thats either 2 years of Air Force deployments or 6 to 9 years Army. Either way, time away from home is time away from family, home, and your car
. Good luck and take care on the trip.

2A672, Aerospace Ground Equipment, but I'm attached to a Space Control unit right now so I'm not doing anything even remotely similar to my job right now. I didn't deploy this often with my normal job haha.

IIRC with the previous 6 my time adds up to about 25 months, then another 4.5 for this one. I've never really been away from anything but my car aside from this last one, and she wasn't here when I got back so it was basically just time away from my car again haha, and my house too actually.

Yep, deploying in September WOOHOO! So I have the summer haha.
Nice, I hope it doesn't come to that haha.
dsm_luck22 wrote:How long are AF deployments? They can't be 12 months right? I did 15 months straight in Baghdad with 1-23rd Infantry 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team and that was more than enough for me. It isn't worth the money.
Mine have always only been about 4 months or so but some AF folks do 6 months or sometimes a year even, but a year is not very common. We were talking about switching to 6 months but we have a Reserve sister Squadron and they deploy with us and they can't go for more than 4 months because of their civilian jobs and regulations blah blah blah.
AGE, I worked along side alot of you guys on the flightline. Have you been stationed at any fighter bases?

Almost exclusively haha. Well, Nellis/Las Vegas was my first base and I worked for F-16s, F-15s and at Indian Springs (which is now Creech) with the Predator. I was at Kadena/Okinawa and worked for the F-15s and transient aircraft. I was at Pope/Fayetteville, NC/hell and worked for the A-10s and C-130s but I never drove the flightline there. I was deployed with fighters twice and C-130/C-17 twice and now deployed with Space twice, going on three times soon haha.
