Make it tomorrow! When I went a few weeks ago I don't think I saw a single Mazda.

My friend with the STi got stuck working so he won't be coming now.
I was really looking forward to seeing what kind of times it would run. I'm still going though if anyone else wants to come out.

Well I didn't better my time from last time. But it was a lot warmer and the Density Altitude was 1,000' higher than last time I went (8375'!). My best run of the night was 13.38 @ 106.9. My trap speed was down 2-3 mph from my best runs last time, so this was a better run than my 13.31 @ 109.6 from last time. It makes sense because the car was 55lbs lighter this time around (1/4 tank of gas instead of 5/8, 3785 lbs with me in it compared to 3840 last time) plus I had the upper control arm on there this time.
Still couldn't hit a 2.0 60' though. I think I am going to give up trying to get a 12 on these tires. On my last run of the day I launched from idle and they were spinning. So I don't think I'll go back until I either have more mods or I get some drag radials, neither of which are likely to happen this year.
I was at least more consistent this time. I didn't have any 14s runs. My first run was my best of the day and I just got progressively slower from there, presumably because my tires were getting greasier and greasier as my 60's kept creeping higher and higher. But last time I had a couple 2.5 60' and this time my worst ones were in the 2.3 range. My best was a 2.124, which was on the run where I missed 3rd gear, so it might have been a better run than my 13.38 which was a 2.159 60'. My worst ET was a 13.7 on that run where I missed 3rd gear. I ran a couple 13.6s without missing a gear, just couldn't get out of the hole.
I ran the same SRT8 Jeep 3 times and won all 3. He pulled me off the line of course, but I ran him down all 3 times. He was running 13.9-14.1. Talked to him quite a bit and he has a lot done to it.. Heads, cams, intake manifold, exhaust. I'm surprised it wasn't faster than it was.
Notables:
NA SRT8 Jeep: 13.9 @ 99
Supercharged SRT8 Jeep: 12.6
Modified C6 Vette: 12.6
C5 Vette: 14.99 @ 99
Mazdaspeed6 (anyone here?): 15.8 @ 86
Roadrunner 440: 14.8 @ 95 (Driven by a woman who was a pretty good driver. She outlaunched me.)
GSX-R (didn't see how many CCs): 11.54 @ 128, and he bog launched. I had a better 60' against him, lol.
2011 Shelby GT500: 13.2 @ 108 - This one boggled me. He said he had an upgraded blower, and this was his first run and he was on street tires. I said wow I expected it to be a lot faster. He said well I wasn't even giving it all it's got yet. So I watched him on his 2nd run, and he went 13.5 @ 104.5. On that run, I could see he was taking his sweet time on the shifts. The car was completely settling in between gears. I don't know why you'd bring a car like that to the track if you're just going to drive it like a grandma. So who knows what the car was really capable of.
Whew, that was a lot of typing. Sorry for being so long-winded.

White with black (or dark gray) stripes? You, the one MS6, and Ron (coloskydiver) in his Miata were the only Mazdas I saw.

Yea, he was supercharged and more and that thing moved out. He was a friend of the NA one that I kept running against.

Not that I know of. He didn't have a laptop in the car or anything. The NA SRT8 Jeep did and he was logging his runs and looking at them in between. He weighed in at 4900+, so I'm sure he was making more power than me, it just takes a lot of power to get that tank moving.
The GT500 looked to have a bunch of extra weight too as his back seat was full of all kinds of stuff, but he still should have been able to run a 12 I would think. They have 138hp more stock than my car and I've only gained probably 30hp plus the gears so that shouldn't be enough to run only 1 tenth and 2mph slower than him. Plus, that extra power is at sea level. A supercharged car loses less because of altitude than my car too.

I'll let him post his exact times but I know he was trapping 99 pretty consistently. I think he was running low 14s.

My fastest time was a 14.08 but was with some bad driving. I got there early and did 4 runs back to back and the car got hot. This was the first time ever down the track and feel like I could shave about a 1/2 sec with some practice. Spent some time trying to figure out what rpm to launch at and figure out the tree. The whole time I thought you left on green. I also had almost a full tank of gas and subs in the trunk, so could shave off about 50-60 lbs. I could also mess with the tires, ran 35-38 psi.
Was a whole lot of fun and hope to better next time

Technically, your time doesn't start until you leave the box, so reaction time isn't really important if you're just looking for a good ET. With that said, what were your 60 ft times and trap speeds?

Also, Ron, you mentioned the car was bogging a little between shifts, but that could just have been a product of the sticky track. The car behaves differently on a sticky track between shifts than on the street. It can grab and cause the car to buck a little and slow down a bit more than normal between shifts because of the extra friction. Don't know if that's what you were experiencing, just saying it's a possibility. Do you have a water temp gauge? Like a real one, not the dummy gauge the car comes with? That would tell you if your car was getting hot or not.
