One more day to register!

Shadowden- springs and intake put your car in STF. At a winter event, it's not a big deal to accidentally run mis-classed (especially until you start beating people) but you'd want to be in the correct class for summer series. You pay at registration- $40 (I think??) + a $15 SCCA "weekend membership" to cover event liability insurance. Weekend memberships (up to 3?) can be credited toward a regular SCCA annual membership, so be sure to keep the forms.

Come find me and say hi- I'll be giving the safety talk in the morning.

Jamie,
Can you provide me a link to show me how I end up in stf?

Also, I tried to log in on the rmsolo site to update my car class/number (if I need to) and can't get logged in. I confirmed the user name and password using my email address. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

Thanks,
Ryan

Edit: I see where I end up in STF now (that is a long rule book). The F is for fwd I am guessing. Still need help getting logged back in to change my class and get a number (if the number is taken).

Edit 2: Randy walked me through re-registering my car...so now I will be 18stf.

Thanks!

Glad you found it, here's a couple charts that break down the allowed mods by class
http://www.odr-scca.org/DIY-classing.htm
http://www.sff.net/people/dburkhead/prepcompare.htm
both are a bit outdated, and have omitions, but they should get you in the right general class (Street Touring in your case) from which you find the specific class for your car (the Mazda 3 is in STF)

"stock" allows- dual adjustable shocks, changing of either front or rear swaybars, R compound tires (long story why this is....), cat back exhaust, replacement of air filter with aftermarket OE sized filter. If the class rules don't specifically allow a given mod, that mod puts you in a different class. STF is the "easiest" class that allows your mods. You could also run your car in more "permissive" classes like SMF, FSP (my class), FP, (and some mod class- mod is typically occupied by race cars), each of which allows more mods, has a higher PAX penalty- which affects your overall season standings and novice standings during the summer series, and puts you at a greater disadvantage to other competitors in your class.

The idea for Street Touring is street driven cars with bolt on mods and street tires. There are many more allowances in Street Touring- headers, bushings, exhaust, seats, etc.

Works out as I will be doing some more stuff in the near future including rmm and both sway bars.

This class also allows for wider wheels, which I will have in the future, though i may keep the stock as my autox wheels.

Thanks for your help.

So the tires on the RX7 are not safe at all :(

Anybody willing to allow a co-driver?

-Pat

Pat you've only got till Thursday morning to register. I have an open seat in the Miata (you would register as 145 STR) if you want it.

Sorry, poor reading comprehension.

You can co-drive my car if you want, or take Eric up on the miata. I think your registration would be 118stf

I was planning on making the numbers using the magnetic vent covers. My car is silver and I don't think the white will show up well.

Have any of you attempted to paint these? They say they are paintable. Figured I would paint them red.

plasti-dip!

I thought of that, but I would rather run red numbers. I have only found black. Really, black with a red outline would be ideal.

HAve you found red plasti dip?

Other option is to use the paper numbers as a stencil and plasti dip right onto the car...not sure I'm ready to try that yet, since i would have to drive it to the track with a number on it.

Use the adhesion promoter and paint that is made to flex, such as bumper paint or that Krylon plastic paint may work as well. Normal enamel will crack and flake off if flexed when you handle the numbers

I'll pick up some Krylon or othe flexible paint when i get the vent covers. Probably a bit much to chew off before tomorrow morning, but we'll see.

I'll spray them red for this go round, then if it holds up, I'll tape off the edges and spray them black so I get my outlined numbers.
