I'm getting tires put on it right now. It really is a pleasant driving little vehicle. It's no exaggeration that it had me thinking, hmm, maybe I hang on to this and sell the truck. I won't do that, but it's amazing that for what has amounted so far to be an hour of cleaning, and probably an hour and a half of additional time in DMV and tires, that it is such a nice little car.

Yes it still reeks of smoke, and hopefully the junkyard interior swap will help with that. If not this weekend, I'll make a trip next weekend to pick up what I need. The A/C works, so I could even hang on to it over summer and still be comfortable in the heat. I know my wife won't want it to take up space that long, so I'll just have to see how long I hang on to it.

Lightweight, double wishbone suspension, fun... What's not to like?

How many miles are on it? I don't know if I'd autocross / track it without replacing at least the rear trailing arm bushings. Those are integral to the rear suspension being stable, and almost guaranteed to be trashed. Likewise for the shock mounting points and the front upper control arm bushings.

Anyway, if you flip it, you probably know this but I'd say don't let it go for cheap. EK hatches are getting more and more rare, especially in that condition.

It has 136,000 on it. I have every maintenance record since new, including gas tank fill ups! Crazy!

I most likely won't track/autox. Most I'll do is drive it around a bit.

I replaced the front seats this weekend, used various methods to clean the carpet, cleaned the headliner, disassembled the interior, cleaned reassembled. It sounds like more work than it really was. I'd say I've spent about 5 hours in total on the car, including time at the DMV, Tires Plus, and the junkyard. My wife's nose agrees the smoke smell is pretty darn close to being gone. At this point, it's as good as I'm going to get it. I could do a couple of other small things to (paint the bottom window molding, windshield wiper arms), but probably won't. Now I'm just waiting for the title to show up so I can throw it up for sale. Until then, I'll drive it around.

The city and county of Broomfield sure takes their time. Apparently between 4 week title wait times, notarized bill of sale/etc, they don't want any private flippers. I'm still waiting for the title. Adams County printed them out at the DMV office. It was a shame too...I found a '92 running/driving rust free Land Cruiser for $1000 that I would've picked up in a heartbeat.

Anyway, I haven't driven the Honda much, but then again, I haven't driven anything much lately. That lends more credence to relieving myself of the truck payment. My son loves riding in the car. He now calls it the hockey car, since we drove it to hockey once. It's parked behind the truck, so I'll swap vehicles around so I take it out more often. Might as well enjoy the efficiency of the little car while I still have it.

So...the state says they're "way behind" on titles. I should have mine in another TWO WEEKS. I think this will end my adventures in car flipping. When I have to sit on the car for 2 months before I can even entertain selling it, that's outrageous.

Sold for $2500. I had $1385 in the car, and about 5 hours of my time, between cleaning, junkyard run, DMV, etc. Not a bad little flip!

So what does $1,115 get you in the cougar?

Would get me another Pole Position for the S2K...or pretty close to a hardtop. Maybe car flipping is the way to go.

Maybe this would be another good flip for you? Can't believe its really $538.00.

That would nearly get me the complete EFI kit for the existing engine. Or, it'll buy my coworker's Explorer 302 and a T5 transmission, with money left over for additional parts needed for the swap.
