Finally got the hideaway door actuators installed, wire, working, and finishing. Only major gotcha I had is that the rubber dust boot that covers the motor adjustment knob was an obstruction and jammed one of the motors. Nothing big, although to adjust the door back down, I had to remove the headlights so I could reach my hand in there to manually turn the adjustment knob so I could remove the dust boot. One blown fuse later, and it's done.

Next up is to upgrade the existing headlights themselves with some more modern units. I can pick up a kit with wiring harness/relays and 4 new headlights for around $100, so that'll be the next order. Then it's time to figure out the dash lighting (it doesn't work) so I can drive in the evening hours safely.

The dash light problem is most likely the headlight switch if it isn't just a connection problem.

Yep, it's a rats nest under there and I haven't even attempted to look at it yet.

I picked up a set up Procar Classic seats from a seller on craigslist last night. They're black, so I'm thinking I'm going to color change the interior. Finding parchment replacement upholstery is expensive. Black is not. I'll most likely try out the vinyl/fabric spray paint on the spare interior pieces I have and see how it turns out. They aren't the correct color anyway, so no harm, no foul if they don't turn out decent.

Well, the seats are installed. Actually, I installed them twice. I initially installed them they way the previous owner had them installed to his brackets. Strangely, he had them installed backwards, which prevented the seats from being mounted on the brackets from being mounted at anything other than the highest level. So, after initially being bummed at how high the seats were, I'm much happier now, and more comfortable.

As far as color matching, I'm unsure if I'll keep these seats permanently. I MAY reupholster the old seats and keep everything white, then resell the Procars. Or, I may colormatch everything black and call it good. If I do keep the Procar seats, they make an upholstery kit for the rear that I'd buy, it runs $120 or so. Then, I'd only have to paint the door cards and rear quarter interior pieces. I need new kick panels, so I'd just get those in black already.

And just like that, whoosh...it's on to something else. I sold the Cougar a couple of weeks ago to a guy that had one as his first car. Apparently, he wanted it last year when I put an ad up, and was bummed when the ad went down. All in all, I ended up in the black about $1800. I resold the seats that I had just picked up, and made $100 on those as well.

My plan now is to take some time figuring out what I want to get next. I'm still all over the place, but one thing I know I don't want is rust. In my head, I've gone from dirt bikes, to Jeeps, to MR2s, to Mustang GTs, etc, etc. I just need to figure out what my goal is for having a 3rd vehicle and go from there.

It was fast. A 1 day sell.

It's actually been a bit of a stress reliever, as the expense of what was still needed was weighing on me a little bit. The next vehicle I get won't require the amount of work this one did, hopefully. Even NC Miatas have dipped into my price range. I'm not looking for anything necessarily "cool" just something fun. My guess is I'll be a year out or so on buying something, unless a "too good" deal pops up.
