They're all a bit snaggle toothed. They need to be adjusted. They do work.

Ordered a fist full of parts for the car today. Nothing mechanical, yet. Some random seals, fuel filler hose, bushings for the window regulators, etc. I'm also installing a divider panel between the seat and trunk, as in these old things, there isn't one. Just hoping to seal up the space between the passenger compartment and the trunk a little bit.

Went to replace the fuel filler hose, got it off...the tank neck is broken, there's an open hole about 1/2 way around the neck. So, time for a new tank. They're cheap enough, same as Mustangs. I doubt I'll get it fixed in time for the Super Cruise, so I'm out for this weekend.

They do sell that temporary tank patch that could get you through the super cruise. I wouldn't trust it for much more than that.

I was hoping to see the car on Saturday.

Could you cut it out and clamp another pipe in place temporarily. I would say weld, but that would probably turn into more problems :43007dfa:

Ordered a tank, sender, and a few other bits for the car. I guess I'll start my way at the back of the car and move forward.

I've discovered aluminum foil as a chrome polisher. I meant to order 2 window cranks for the rear quarter windows and mistakenly ordered 1. 1 was already missing, so I had the other, it was just heavily pitted and filthy. A little cleaning and some polishing with wet aluminum foil and it looks a lot better. It's not a show piece, but it looks a ton better, is usable, so i'll keep it. Now I'm going through and polishing the rest of the cranks. Easy enough to do.

With a project like yours, you might consider something like this: http://www.cjponyparts.com/eastwood-buf ... oCi8Hw_wcB

For chrome and other metal polishing, I use Nevr-Dull.

I have Nevr-Dull as well. The aluminum foil was to remove some of the bad pits/corrosion. I tried Nevr-Dull first and it didn't remove that stuff...basically what felt/looked like barnacles. It doesn't make it perfect, but it makes it look a lot better. Afterword, I used Never Dull to polish them up.

I repaired the rear window regulators over the weekend. They simply needed new bushings, the regulators themselves were fine. Windows now roll up and down nicely. They are manual windows.

Replaced some of the weatherstripping around the windows. I need to screw in the new divider between the rear seat and trunk area. I'm going to put some dynamat or equivalent on there as well. I haven't picked any up yet, but the rear seat is easy enough to remove that I can add it after the fact. The rear floor/seat area is solid. No rust. I haven't pulled the carpet to verify the entire floor yet, as I know the spot in front of the passenger side seat needs replacement.

The tank should arrive tomorrow. Sender was on backorder, but should be shipping soon.

Sender should be here on Tuesday. I drained the tank (and filled the Tacoma) over the weekend. Pulled the tank out today just to make sure there wasn't any rust surprise. I wasn't expecting any, as I inspected underneath the car a while ago. Should be an easy drop in. Once I get it all together, I need to take it out for a spin. Since doing the shifter bushings, I haven't been able to drive it, so I'm interested to feel the difference on the road.

I installed the divider panel, just need to put some dynamat on there.

I've been tossing around the idea of going with a Bullitt style Cougar. Doubt I'll go that route, but I was mocking one up the other day and it looked kinda cool. We'll see. I know with dark colors the prep work needs to be pretty darn perfect for it to not show through the paint. For springtime, I hope to have the suspension, brakes, steering, and other mechanical odds and ends done (suspension, clutch, exhaust fluids, blah, blah). I know I won't have the funds to do it all at once, so I need to prioritize.

Wrong sending unit arrived today. I ordered the wrong one. I need a 5/16 and ordered a 3/8. Poop. Reordered, this one wasn't on backorder should it should arrive soon.

You could have made it work with an adapter. The 3/8 one is for the big block cars.

There's so little room between the hard line and the sending unit that I didn't even know if I could fit an adapter in there. There's maybe an inch to inch and a half gap between the hard line and sender.
