Second batch of stuff ordered. Now I need to identify my bracing parts and remaining bushings. I'll most likely upsize the front sway and replace the endlinks. I should probably replace/rebuild the steering box as well. I not going to hurry through it once I start. I'll take my time and make sure everything is in good working order as I go.

Are you going to do any work in the rear suspension?

What about replacement springs?

I have most of the front end apart. The ball joints weren't a lot of fun to separate from the spindle, but they eventually popped free.I snapped one of the camber bolts on the LCA, so I ordered a new set. I bought the Global West kit with camber plates instead of the stock ones. In the meantime, I'll get other bits cleaned up and potentially put a coat of paint on them before they go back in. The drums came off easily, so that was nice. Most (but definitely not all) of the bolts were not too bad. A few left me cursing, but that's working on cars, especially 50 year old ones.

The old spring perches are seized solid. The new roller perches will make a huge difference there. I still haven't removed the tie rods. I expect those to be as fun as the ball joints. I may just go and rent the tool for it. Hopefully I'll have it together by next weekend. No hurries. My new camber bolts probably won't be here until sometime next week.

All the vacuum hoses on the right side of the engine bay will be gone when I do the electric conversion on the doors. Once I heat wrap the starter wires, it'll be all nice and neat under there.

Other than the old brake flex lines, everything has been removed. I don't have any SAE flare wrenches, so I need to pick some up. I rented the tie rod tool. Man, did that make things easy. They just popped right apart. I used some Simple Green and aluminum foil to clean up the spindles. Aluminum foil works great to use as a scrubber.

I test fit the new springs to see if I'll need a compressor to get them on. If anything, i'll need to compress them about 1/2". I'm excited to eventually see the difference the rebuild makes. I hope it's pretty significant. Every ball joint was in rough shape, spring perches frozen stiff, etc. The disc conversion alone I expect good things. I'm ready to get it back together and start on the rear,

Make sure you put a good amount of penetrating oil on this brake lines before you try and pull them apart. They always get stuck together.

Driver's side came apart ok. The passenger side is being a little more stubborn. I sprayed it a few times yesterday and when my regular open end wrench felt like it was going to slip, I stopped. Most everything on the driver's side was well lubed with years of oil changes/etc. Passenger side was much drier, and thus, a few more bolts needed extra persuasion.

i decided to go ahead and replace the hard lines. Full set for the car was about $100. Passenger side was rounded and that sucker was frozen solid.

Completion delayed. I have the passenger side almost completed....I need to pick up some grease to finish assembly of the brakes. Once I get that, I can mount the disc/bearings/caliper and flex line. Probably about 15 minutes worth of work, excluding bleeding the lines.

When I moved over to the driver's side, I ran into an issue. The holes for the strut rod mount (which is the original piece) do not line up on the control arm. The holes are almost 1/2" off. I've emailed the company I bought them from, so until I get this taken care of, I won't be able to finish. I have not checked yet to see if there are passenger/drivers side part numbers and if there are any differences between the sides.

Oh well, delays happen. It is rather funny though, the passenger side was a pain to get apart, easy to get together. The driver's side is causing me problems getting together!
