Keep your eyes open on ebay. maybe you could find a used one.

Nice truck! I think you're the only other person I know that goes through vehicles as quickly as I do.... One of these days I would like to keep one for the long haul. I think my record is 2.5 years with both of my former Subaru's. I'll give you credit though, you did keep your FoST a lot longer than I kept mine! Congrats my friend.

Thanks! I do think this one will last at least longer than 18 months. If it does, it'll be the longest consecutively owned DD since my 1996 Yukon. I've had the Miata now for over 2 years, which is some kind of minor miracle.

You were nearly spot on in your post in my FoST thread, you said it'd be 6 months (from mid December) that I'd be in a truck. Ha! Congrats on the WRX!

The Taco continues to be a boring, reliable daily driver. I've had it just over a year, put 6700 miles on. So far, 2 oil changes, floor mats, and the TRD Pro grill are all I've done to it, and most likely all I will do to it for quite some time. Since it lives outside, I may add a rollback tonneau cover at some point.

On a side note, the wife's 2014 Grand Cherokee has had 4 recalls already, and just had its first warranty related work, a P0520 code indicating a faulty oil sensor. They were able to get us in the same day and back on the road.

Toyota's are pretty boring low maintenance types of vehicles. I'm sure the high powered supras buck that trend though.

Another 5 months, nothing new for the truck. I'm debating getting a cap for winter. I don't like shoveling out the bed when it snows, and it's pretty much the hockey commute vehicle. I'm at 9700 miles now. Some oil changes, but nothing else needed/done yet. We did make a mountain run earlier in the summer. We just went up Jones Pass near Empire, nothing terribly technical, but it was fun.

The Taco's days may be numbered. I haven't made a 100% decision yet, but having a car payment sit in the driveway is a bit silly for us. With the equity, I can sell the truck and pick up a 1st gen Tundra/Sequoia. Other vehicles on the list, a V8 4runner, Titan/Frontier. I'm once bitten, twice shy with GM products, so will most likely avoid those as an option.

If I'm really honest with myself, I don't even need a truck, but most vehicles are "want" based anyway, instead of need. I could get some sort of *gasp* car, too. I don't mind the little Honda, but it isn't a long term keeper. I think combining the proceeds from that with the Taco will net me a decent vehicle. If it's the route I do go, I'll miss the Tacoma. It's a great truck. I'll sleep on the decision for a bit.

My night of sleeping on it, and the Taco has earned its keep...for now. It's not money that's driving the issue. My wife actually commented on swapping out vehicles/consolidating payments/etc, which automatically puts me in search mode.

Added a BakFlip G2 tri fold tonneau cover today. I picked it up used on CL. It's a nice little cover and should come in handy. It's super easy to remove completely, too. Clever engineering for these.

Installed the Fold A Cover today. Sold the Bakflip yesterday. I prefer the ease of use of the Bakflip to be honest. I like that the Fold a cover locks, which is entirely why I wanted that one. I also like that used, it was $250 less.

The truck did well on the road trip. The cover came in super handy for rainy days and for locking things up for my hotel stay on the drive back. It poured on the way to NY, rained a lot in Montreal, but once we got to NY, the weather cleared up. I averaged a little over 20MPG for the entire trip. I'm sure the wife's Jeep would've been a more comfortable ride, but I ended up using the truck while I was there. Three loads to the dump, and I built a fire pit and picked up a few other large odds and ends. Overall, I put 4400 miles on it over the course of the the trip. I'm now up to just over 18k on it.

It's always crazy going back to the northeast and seeing rusted out newish vehicles.

Changed the oil and installed the new Fumoto valve today on the truck. Straightforward change, I was able to slide under the truck and not have to get it on ramps. With the rebate for the oil, a Mobil 1 oil change with OEM filter ran $14. Also hit up a Land Cruiser meet yesterday in Golden. Probably about 20-30 various gen Cruisers. They're cool trucks, I pretty much like any of the, from the FJ40 through the new ones. My wife liked the 40s.

With the rain lately, it's been nice having the cover on the bed. My son's hockey season has started back up, and being able to keep his gear dry in the bed, instead of smushing it in the back seat with him is good. I also really like that it's lockable. I have 2 years left to pay on it, I'll throw in an extra payment here and there. It'll be great that two years from now, I'll have three major bills paid off, 2 cars and another large loan. That'll be a huge raise. I'm now actually looking forward to paying something off rather than replacing it, not quite sure what's wrong with me.
