It does look good.

Obligatory: "why would you get a Focus"

As mentioned in chat, there is a sick Focus ST (SVT, whatever) in my neighborhood. I even considered following the guy home to tell him as such, but didn't. If I had been in the S, I may have.

There's a decent amount of front legroom in this car. I don't need to have the seat all the way back to be comfortable. My wife rode in the ST for the first time. Since to her, cars are just cars, she's not nearly as interested. For her, it's basically "nicer than I thought it would be". That works for me. My son still likes it.

I turned off traction control yesterday in the wet to see how it did. Ha. I have yet to do so in the dry. I have yet to play around with any "features" inside the car. Since it's the base model, I do not have MyFord Touch. No loss to me. I do like the autodown/up for all 4 windows. My Tundra only had that for the driver's window. Now I just need some dry weather and a good road.

Does it at least have Sync? The bluetooth and hands free calling features are one of my favorite parts of my Ford, you know besides the drivetrain. ;)

Also I love having auto up/down for both windows and hate it when I drive my wife's car and she only has it on the driver's window and it's down only, lol.

Yup, it does have Sync. In fact, I still need to sit around and get my phone connected/downloaded/etc.

Fun car!
Today I got to drive my friends brand-new ST, he bought it today and it only has 50 miles on it!

Very fun car and reminds me a lot of the MS3, minus the torque-steer.
The breaks on the ST were incredible too, (or mine are just shitty)
I feel like the suspension definitely handled speed-bumps better than the mazda too.

Would've taken it on the highway for a proper drive but he's worried about it not being broken-in yet...

Sweet! Freeway had good prices on them as well, at least decent ones advertised. And break in? What's that! Haha. I think as is typical on most new vehicles, it's only recommended that you don't travel at a consistent engine speed for extended periods. Otherwise, get on it!

The ST was significantly cheaper to register than the Jeep...ha! $327 for the little car. For some reason, I never quite feel it's not the dealership's car until I have real plates on the car.

I agree. That is still a car payment to the man though. Death and taxes, death and taxes.

That's it? It goes by purchase price and weight though doesn't it? But still even my MS3 was close to $600 and the Mustang was $700+ for that first year. Did you transfer over the existing plate from the Tundra? They pro-rate any registration fees already paid on plates that you transfer.

Taxable value on the ST is listed as 19,787. I imagine it's higher on the other vehicles. The Tundra was closer to $700 to register the first time. The Jeep was $1100. No transferring on any of the above vehicles.

I'm unimpressed with the build quality of the Focus. Both rear doors aren't quite aligned with the body correctly, the front dash trim that runs along the base of the windshield is off center, and there's a slight buzzing/resonance in the dash at times. At 500 miles on the odo.

I guess people are right about build quality of cars built on Fridays!

Unless it's paid off, I don't see staying with this car for much more than a year, 18 months tops. I have to remind myself that I got it because it was inexpensive. It did lower our payment, and the debt that I carry, overall. Thankfully, with trade and negotiated price, I already have significant equity in the car, low interest so it'll be easy to get out of and not take much of a hit. My opinion may change, and the car is fun, but I don't see this being a long termer (like I'll ever have one of those! The Miata stands the best bet since I need to have a project on hand).
