Big day today and milestone in my build today. My self and some friends got the majority of the body on. The three of us started at 8 and got it to this point. By 6 pm, with an hour lunch. The body was did fight back but got it done. The panels will defiantly need some messaging and will need to let it sit out in sun for while. Still a lot to do but it's good to finally see a car after this entire build process.

That's awesome! Hopefully all the panels come together without too much trouble.

That thing looks incredible!

I've started a fund for a rotary powered 818 Coupe. The hardtop retrofit went on preorder this week.

Congrats. I will at some point order the hard top as well but wish it was removable. Keep us posted when you pull the trigger.

It has been a while since I have posted any updated on my 818 build and figured it was time. I am at the point that most of us hit in any large build where I am ready to be done and am frustrated with the build process. The last 15% always seems to take the longest. I got the car aligned and corner weighted at 3R Racing and wow what a shop do they have. There were two full on race Lambo's , a Porsche race car and many other high end cars there. The car weighed in right at 2000 lbs without me in it and a full tank of gas. The water to air intercooler added a good 35-40 lbs with the coolant, I have a good amount of sound deaden-er in car, has a 4 speakers, amp and my wheel and tire setup are a little heavier that what most are using. The primary goal of the car was a street car that will see some track time so I am not too concerned about the weight. The windshield was installed, mirrors are in, dash is in but not finally installed as I still need to do all the aftermarket gauges. Some body work still needs to be done and I am thinking that I will take it to someone to clean up (any recommendations would be welcomed) and whoever does it should be able to knock it out in a day or two. I also need to get the carpets install and will add a little bit more weight but need to find a good upholstery shop to get it done right.

I did get the car insured and started the process to get the car licensed. The process is more a paperwork drill and a drawn out one at that. Once I had the car insured, I was able to go get a 10 day temp tag to drive the car to the highway patrol to get it inspected. During that 10 days, I was able to get about 500 miles on the car and ran very well except for a axle seal leak on the trans that will need to be replaced. I must have nicked it when installing the axle. I did get the car inspected and was suprised that they didn't even physically inspect the car. They simply walked around the car and was more focuses on my paperwork and where I sourced all my parts. They passed it and was able to take all my paperwork to the DMV for the state to assign the car a VIN number. Now I just wait as it will take 6-8 weeks for them to assign it a VIN. Once it is in, I will have to go back to the DMV for another temp tag to have the highway patrol attached it and give me the title and then back to the DMV to get plates. Feels good to be at this point but still have a few items to knock out in the mean time. Body work is will be first so I can get it over to Eclipse Window Tinting to get wrapped. I am going to go with a pearl white wrap and then wrap the rear humps in a carbon fiber vinyl. Here is the color and some pics of the car.

Factory Five just launched a new coupe version that you can add on to any 818. It is not a removable hard top but does look good. Here is a pic,

That coupe looks sweet! Looking forward to seeing your car in person some time. I looked over the GRM one at Daytona, and it was pretty cool.

Choice between hard top and no top is a tough one. Your adventure seemed smooth as an outsider (thus far).

As always. I type of a kick ass thread and accidentally hit the back button when toggling between two sites linking photos. So frustrating. SO you just get the highlights. It has been a long time and the car is registered, tuned (315whp/322 ft lbs), interior done (except door panels), new front end installed, body work and wrap done by Eric at Eclipse Window Tint. Eric did a great job and recommend him to anyone. Got a track day in last friday and was happy with how it turned out.
