First things first, I had when the site times out after writing a kick as post. AHHH!!!.

We here is the short version. Things are moving alone but life gets in the way. I really want to get this thing running by thanksgiving and have a good shot. A lot of the build was mocked up and is now buttoned up and installed. Installed sound deadening, wrapped the header, brakes are 75% done, coolant tubes/lines 75% done, fuel lines done, pedals and throttle cable in. I also decided to ditch the top mount intercooler for a water to air system. Here is the thread for it and has some impressive numbers and dyno runs on the 818 if anyone wants to read it.

AHHH! Twice the site times out on my posts and this is the third time I am writing this. Works continues, wheel spaces/ longer studs installed, fuel lines done, sound deadening installed, turbo & header (wrapped as well) final install, brake lines started, pedals and throttle cable in and I ditched the top mount intercooler for a water to air system. This was the right thing for the car and works very well. Here is the thread for it and has some impressive stats and dyno runs on the 818.

The water to air system uses a radiator style heat exchanger and eliminates the need for an overflow tank. The entire system holds two gallons of coolant pushed by a Boch pump that is used on the GT500's. The stickers on the intercooler are coming off and something else will takes its place. I am hoping to be running and driving by thanksgiving and then body work over the winter. I cant wait till next spring. I also started dieting the wiring harness and scares the crap out of me. Wiring is going to take a bit of time but hop all works out.

Checked a couple of boxes off the list today. The intercooler kit is 100% in and plumbed as well as all the coolant lines.

I needed to loosely attach a side panel to check clearances and to mock up the fuel filler tube. Starts to give you an idea of the look and was some good motivation.

At this point it is finishing up all the vacuum/ vent lines on the engine, wiring and exhaust and then she will be ready to fire.

Here is a video of Factory Fives second 818R they built and recently brought to VIR to test. Got a few laps in but blew the motor. It's all in the video but man are these things fast. Watch the telemetry on how fast it accelerates and quick it comes out of the corner.

45 pounds of boost will do that. Ouch. I'd be curious to see what they're running for an engine, as it appears to be pushing 24 pounds, and looks to be equipped with ludicrous speed.

It was a full built engine and what FF is saying that there was an oil leak that dripped onto the header, started a fire and burned the vacuum line going to the waist gate, causing the boost to spike to 45 psi and then blew a rod through the block.

I know it has been a bit since I posted on my car but work still goes on when I can find time. The main delay is that I waiting on wiring harness built specifically for the 818. I dug into the wiring and was way over my head, plus it would lay out as you would hope and feel like this was an area where you shouldn't skimp. I was told 6-8 weeks (today will be 8 weeks) and will not be here until the middle of January. Once it comes in, the car will be ready to fire. Over the last few months, bled the brakes (had to replace a few adapters), fixed and adjusted the clutch, mounted the shifter and got it all dialed in, installed the front speakers, installed the oil catch can and got the exhaust done. Here are some pics of the exhaust, this baby is going to breath. It is a full 3" stainless exhaust, bell mouth 3' high flow Magnaflow Cat and a 3" Magnaflow race muffler.

Agreed! That looks quite beastly. Looking forward to hearing it fire up seeing it roll under its own power.

The noise is something I am bit concerned with but with the limited space to work with and the fact that I have to have a CAT and a muffler to get it licensed, its the best I could do. One thing is that all the noise making will be behind me and will have to try to out run the noise.

Have some time off this coming week and decided to take the car home to get some work done. Going to focus on the stereo, replace the wheel studs with ARP studs, replace the rear trailing arms (I think they are bent from the roll over my donor car was in), and replace the engine and trans mount with much stiffer ones (should have done it from the beginning). Once I got the car home today, it looked so good in the garage I had to take some pictures.
