Your car is looking great! Really digging the Lightning McQueen too!

Props for a clean garage.

It has been nice have the car at home and being able to work on it when I can. Making some good progress but sometimes it seems like it is two steps forward and then one step back. When doing a project like this, it is easy to say I don't need to do that now or the stock ones will be fine. You always end up paying the price with additional parts and a bunch more time when you could have just done it right the first time.

I ended up replacing the wheel studs with longer ARP Wheel studs for both strength and length since I am having to run wheel spacers to avoid any rubbing. This is something that I should have done when I had the entire hub disassembled and replaced the wheel bearings. I was hoping that I would have to remove everything but I was wrong. Had to disassemble all four corners, press out the hub, press in the new studs and then press it all back together with out damaging the new bearings. Then of course put it all back together. The rear worked out because I needed to replace rear lateral links as well because the stock ones were bent (donor car was in a rollover) and thought that was how they were supposed to be since the bends on both sides were identical. Installed the new ones when I put the rest of the suspension in but took some work getting everything to fit properly. The alignment on this car is way off and has way to many adjustments needed to get it where is needs to be. I am thinking that this is something I will have someone else do.

I also ended up replacing the engine and trans mounts with a set of Cusco mounts that are almost solid. The stock mounts allow the engine to move a bit to much and I have no idea how many miles where on them. This was truly a case where I thought the stock ones would be fine and should have replaced them while the engine was still on its stand. It was good that I replaced them because as I was removing the nut off of the trans mount, the stud broke. The mounts are way better and was very impressed with the design. The last project I started this last week was the stereo. My plan is to run an iPad Mini as my stereo (Pandora, Nav and track apps) and was able to get the amp mounted, front speakers mounted, sub box made and mounted and ran most of the wires. I ended up mounting the amp under the dash to keep it dry, hard to see and will still let get to it for adjusting gain etc. For the fronts I am running a 5-14" Kickers (marine grade), 3" Crunch waterproof motorcycle speakers (small and easy to mount), a 6-3/4" Kicker shallow mount sub (Marine grade) and all powered by a Cyrwin (??) Vega 850 watt 5 channel stealth amp.

Thank you. Unfortunately I am out of town on a work trip in Las Vegas but can think of worse places to be in for your birthday. The event I was at had Jeff Foxworthy come in for entertainment and laughed my a$$ off. Great surprise and a wonderful treat.

I know it has been awhile since i have posted. I have been waiting for my wiring harness to come in and it took 3 months to complete and in that time I lost a bit of motivation. Family, work and life in general has taken time away from my garage time but my harness did come in about a month ago and have been slowly getting things sorted. To get myself motivated I made an appointment at a Subaru performance shop to help me fire the engine for the first time. I have way to much money into this car to hook up the battery and fry the harness or watch it burn to the ground. I was able to button up the majority of the loose ends and brought it in on Tuesday. Everything was check, a few things were changed, the tune was loaded and fuel, air & spark were combined to make beautiful music. The car ran for 5 minutes and then started spewing oil out of the oil return on the bottom of the turbo and required pulling the turbo to get to it. I had to leave it at the shop to and it turn out that flange on the return was bowed causing the leak. Got a new return line and will be picking up the car first thing tomorrow. I have still have to clean up the harness and put it in its final resting place but hopefully this weekend when it is nice, I can go tear around in a parking lot or even cruise the neighborhood. Here is a video of the start-up

Here is a video of me ripping around. This thing is fast and is only on a break in tune. I bet I am down 75-100 hp's from where I will be on the final tune. This is going to be fun.

Congrats! That thing is gonna move. What do you estimate the final dry weight will be? Also, does it have abs?

Btw, I wish my garage was as well organized as yours.

LOL you look really tall sitting in it. Man that is gonna be fun. I actually like it better without the body. I wonder how much it would cost to get the kit and just custom make a different body for it LOL.

Thanks guys and feels. Good to be at this point but still have quite a bit of work ahead of me. My guess on the finish weight of the car is going to be around 1950 lbs. I have added some things, AWIC, bigger wheels, stereo ect but really want to stay sub 2000 lbs. I won't know until it's done and on the scales.

Love the gauge cluster just flopping around while you're driving, lol!

So who is gonna have the faster car? You with your 818, or the STI that Regulator is looking at picking up to replace his Evo? Think we might need to have a showdown!

Been slowly buttoning up a laundry list of items on my car before the body work begins . Yesterday I had a buddy of mine follow me to a car meet that is held down the street and we brought both of sons to check out the cars. As always the boys had a blast and my car got a lot of attention.
