If the wiring is correct and the gauge is functioning. You would see a slight drop to the discharge side of the gauge when the key is switched on, another drop when parking lights are selected and so on. The gauge could be bypassed (we did that often way back when) or faulty. The Model A came with and ammeter (amp meter) and were replaced by simpler volt meters as the alternator outputs grew (late 70's early 80's I think).

I installed the passenger side mirror finally.

haha. The only parts in my interior that aren't metal are the dash pad, seat, and arm rests.

I installed a delay wiper switch in the truck on Friday. It came out of an '86 F150 XLT. It was a very easy conversion. http://www.fordification.com/tech/wiperdelay.htm

It's nice to have more than 2 speeds.

I also hooked up the AM radio. I still need to figure out why I'm not getting any reception.

Saturday morning I installed the chrome bumper on the front.

I liked the square tubing on the front of the old bumper you could mount stuff to. Old trucks are pretty cool since they really can take a beating and keep functioning.

I don't know what that tubing was for. They also modified the rear bumper to extend almost 4' beyond the rear of the truck. At one point they had a camper in the bed.
