I had been wishing for a comparison like this since the BRZ/FRS came out but I stopped looking. Decided to do a search finally and found this. Watched the first minute and decide to post it. Should be good. Its a year old......

Just watched the entire video and it was great.... Their comments and opinions for each of the cars were very respectable.

I've actually watched that review a couple of times now; those guys (Everyday Driver) have become some of my favorite reviewers to watch! I also respected their comments.... I've recently driven an S2000, but I haven't driven an RX-8 in quite a while and I've actually never driven the BRZ/FRS. I like the Toyobaru twins, but they're priced above what I can pay for a 3rd car (cash), so I haven't looked into them very hard. Regardless, at any price, the S2000 is a tough car to beat.

One thing I disagree with about their review: they said the electric steering in these cars was very good. I've driven several S2000's over the years, and I disagree. The steering on the S2000 is the opposite of good IMO. At least it was on the last AP1 I drove. Overly light and numb. I've driven cars with good electric power steering racks (my WRX and two former VW's come to mind), the S2000 just isn't one of them. Don't get me wrong, I love the S2000 and I would certainly own one in a heartbeat; but I've always felt the lifeless steering was its worst feature. Just my $.02

It's strange. I would say that my steering feels very good. I wonder if it is the alignment?

Cool vid; I'd like to see them do the same comparison with a 350Z (or 370Z, though they are more expensive), Hyundai Genesis, and Porsche Boxster just for kicks. I pretty much agree with everything they said, anyway. No question in my mind that the S2000 is the best car of these three, from a fun factor perspective. I likewise agree that the EPS on the S2000 is fantastic. It has a nice weight to it, and instant response. But it does some things a lot worse than the other two---like storing anything bigger than a small suitcase  I miss mine. Some day I think I'll own an AP2 just like that one, white with tan interior.

The last time I drove an S2000, I drove it back to back with my old MSM and there was no question, my MSM's steering was better weighted and had better feedback. Although that's not a fair comparison, as the MSM's setup was hydraulic.

I've owned at least 4 cars with EPS (MK6 GTI, MK6 Golf R, Focus ST and my current 2015 WRX) and all of them seemed to have better steering weight & feel vs the last S2000 I drove. Although they were all designed 10+ years after the S2000 was, so again, its not exactly a fair comparison, as they had quite a few technological advantages that weren't available in the year 1999/2000.

I thought the S2000 had a great steering rack ratio and immediate turn-in, which made it a fun car; but compared to the other cars I've listed, I couldn't feel what the front wheels were doing and it was a bit lighter than I would have liked it. The newer EPS cars I've owned build resistance based on speed and steering angle, making them feel a lot more like traditional hydraulic setups; whereas the S2000 seemed light at all speeds by comparison.

Just my $.02

S2000 with this is the ultimate track combo.

Well, they did something close-ish to that.... they did a review of 2+2 coupes a while back between the RX-8, the Hyundai Genesis and the 370Z's upmarket brother the Infiniti G37:

Granted, no Boxster, but the Boxster didn't really fit in that comparo. Overall though, I really enjoy the reviews these guys put on!

AP1 wheels look good in lime green on a berlina black. Nice trailer too.
