Ouch! Go online to the Junkyards and find a Used ECM. Do the work yourself!

A search on Car-Part.com comes up with a bunch of ECMs. Just need the right ID number for yours. There were like 6 variants for the Speed3. Price ranges from $75-$400.

This is the number for one in CO. Engin computer "ID L34C-18881-D thru G". Need to confirm that ID I assume. Call and make sure they still have it. If you search Nationally they will probably ship it to you.

I have been getting the run around and alot of excuses from the dealer. So today i called mcdonald Mazda asked for chase at Mazda service. Chase at volvo answers the phone. I ask for chase at Mazda he says sure puts me on hold some other guy from Hyundai answers the phone i again ask for chase at Mazda they proceed to put me on hold for another 10 minutes. Finally chase from Mazda answers the phone and i ask him did i just talk to you 15 minutes ago and ask you for chase at Mazda and you put me on hold for you to answer 15 minutes later. He says yes. I exploded on him. I asked why my car wasnt done. He says parts werent ordered yet they werent ordered even though i had authorized repairs on the vehicle. I explicitly told him last week i Didnt care what they problems were i just wanted it fixed quickly. Knowing what the problem was on Friday of last week and failing to order parts is unacceptable. My friend who is a tech there explained the car had been sitting and not been touched since Friday. Even though Saturday the rep told me it was still being diagnosed. So after i had asked chase when my car was to be completed he hung up on me. Upon calling his direct extension twice and getting his voice mail. I called the regular service department and a women promptly answered and said David we Will have your car Friday parts are ordered theyre out of state we assure it Will be done Friday needless to say i wont return to mcdonald

that sucks! sorry you're going through this...
McDonald was my go-to-place, but the last few times they've pissed me off,
+ them renovating the building or whatever they are doing isn't helping anything...

have you contacted/informed mazda corporate?
seems like a problem no car should have, and that they should fix it for free...

I second what Alain said. Seems like such an isolated problem that wouldn't be caused by anything other than a faulty part from Mazda.

Yeah, modern ECMs should be one of the most reliable parts in the entire car. 62k seems to be way too early for one to fail, if at all. I second talking to Mazda.

I had my ECM fail on my 6 at around 45k miles...it may or may not have had something to do with the AP crashing during a flash, but after Cobb couldn't fix it, took it to the dealer...in the car mind you, and they replaced it no questions.

Any news on this? Did they end up replacing it for you?
