just been reading about HPFP and the need to get one down the road if your modding . How long in general terms do these last for a stage 1 or stage 2 car .

They're not consistent. That's the problem. They could just crap out at any time. That's why Cobb recommends upgrading it even at stage 1 on a gen2. Then you know you're not going to be WOT and all of a sudden lose fuel pressure.

Even if your stock pump is keeping up, it's one of those peace of mind upgrades because you never know when it will stop being able to keep up. I wasn't having any dips below 1600psi on my stock pump, but I upgraded it anyway just because I didn't want to have to worry about it. And Cobb all but requires it on the 2nd gens when you start getting into stage 1 and definitely stage 2 territory.

Are you talking about the stck pump, or aftermarket? After market stuff, if put in correctly, should last the life of the car.

autotech seems to be the big one as far as internals go, but you can get a whole new pump from CP-e, then send yours back to get a core charge.

I'm running autotech's, no problems, and were easier to install than i thought.

I used a PTP pump, but I don't know what's up with them if they're out of business or what. Plus some people have had issues with breaking them in. I didn't have any problems with mine though, and it was half the price of the CP-E for the whole pump.
