Mazda is going to discontinue the CX-7 in North America to boost sales of CX-5

I don't know why Mazda would do this, how about remodeling the CX-7 and make it slightly bigger or do a mid-year upgrade. Nissan doesn't plan to axe their compact Rogue or Toyota stopping production of the Highlander.

From what I read on an article posted on 6crew, the CX-5 is a bit roomier inside for the passengers even though it's a smaller car. The cargo space is a bit smaller, but still plenty roomy. The CX-5 also kicks the CX-7s ### when it comes to fuel economy. The CX-7 is worst in it's class for fuel economy I believe. There's no real reason to keep selling the CX-7 when the CX-5 beats it in just about every way.

Duplicate product, and Mazda isn't exactly rollin' in money either.

For me, as far as the new ones I REALLY didn't like the CX-7. The 5 was head and shoulders above the 7 in my eyes. The 5 is probably going to be our next car.

Except for power and performance. Mine has the 2.3 Turbo MZR (used to be standard engine) under the hood (tons of low end torque) and AWD. I bet the CX-5 can't go up the mountain like my CX-7. I can cruise up I70 at 80+mph in 6th gear at under 3k rpm flying pass everybody. I would like to see CX-5 do that... I think not.

I like the CX-5, it looks nice and might be OK around the city, might not be too much fun when you get to a hill.

Apparently, Mazda makes the diesel version and manual verion of CX-7 in Europe... They need to bring them here too.

Diesel emissions restrictions in the US are absurdly strict compared to Europe. Crash safety regulations are different, and manuals just don't sell here with the general population. Mazda doesn't have the money, and even if they did, they probably wouldn't profit enough from the investment to make it worthwhile
