I just saw this:
http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/2767336278.html

Looks to me like a Kelmark GT, or a similar air-cooled VW kit car. Yet it says it has an Rx-7 motor in it? How do they do that?

Here's the pic:

Also, I think his price is off by a decimal point!
Anyone know anything about this? It's certainly unique...

I'm kinda in the middle between scam and guy who doesn't know crap about his own kit car and just paid someone to put it together.

That might be the guy that I met at one of the monthly Saturday car shows in C Springs. Looks the same and has the same description, and he was selling it, but I don't remember if that's the same name. His was legit though, and this one probably is too. Worst case, tell him you want to meet and see the car in person. He's at least somewhat local so it's not out of the question. If he doesn't want to meet, consider it a scam. Easy peezy.

For some reason I picture Scarface driving that in Miami.

He is a nice guy. it is running a 13B 4pt with Holley if I remember right. It is a Ferrari kit car using a VW bug as a base.

^Is that the guy from the Saturday morning monthly meet? I can't see the pics right now. I have his number saved in my phone but I don't have it near me right now either.

Oh yeah, he's a good guy. I talked to him for probably a good 45 minutes about his car. He's put a lot of work into it. I told him I'd call him and invite him out to the meets but he seemed only about 50/50 interested so I haven't called haha.

I can see the pics now. Yep, that's definitely the same guy I talked to, and he was selling his, but I'm not sure that's the same guy on the CL ad. It looks like there are a couple differences but it's hard to see in those small pics on CL. The wheels are definitely different though. I can't imagine there would be two of them running around the same area though haha. I'd think about buying it if I had the money laying around. It's definitely different, and interesting.

I was sort of stuck at the price - seventeen thousand five hundred dollars!!
The front's a nice tribute to the Dino, but the rear third seems heavily Kelmark GT with some intakes. See this pic of a stock Kelmark GT from an interesting kitcar website, "priceofhistoys.com":

I'd buy this car and daily drive it for $1,750, maybe even double that, but not for ten times the cost.
Shoot, more than the cost of an MS3 or Rx-8? Seems hopeful, to say the least.
I would like to know how he connected the rotary to the VW transaxle - anyone see it up close or get pictures?
(By the way, the ad worked for me just now.)
