Coolant Temps

Just curious what temps people usually see on MS6. Feel like mine is low. I usually sit around 160, but it will get 170-180 after long drives. I've seen it at 210 when it is hot. Just trying to figure out if thermostat is acting up or sensor maybe? Guage in the car is in the middle, so could just be on the low side of normal... since 160 -200 are all about center.

I don't really drive it during the winter, so I'm not sure what it would be like out on an 18* day like this, after tooling around for a bit, but let me go see what my last data log says from a few weeks back. Stand by....

Okay... so my last datalog was roughly 32 minutes long, and my coolant temp "averaged" 179.3*
The high and low water warks were 217.4* an 102.2*, respectively. This was on 11/25/2011, and from what I remember, the ambient was mild in the low 60's.

Ya I logged a drive on friday afternoon. Let it sit and idle until it reached about 140. Then drove like 15 miles only got to about 160, almost 180 after I sat in my drive way for a minute. Seems low, not sure though.

That sounds about right from my time owning a Speed6 and getting UOAs done. I was driving 30 miles one way all hwy and keepng my revs up and I had a ton of fuel after 4000 miles OCIs over a 2 year time period. Meaning my oil temps werent getting high enough to boil out the blow by. I think coolant wouldnt be far off from that. Not much difference winter to summer either.

Slightly off topic but the DISI engine is terrible about blow-by and a catch can helps a ton with that.
