I like the MX5 but I'm sure they won't build a spyder. I hope they do build that front end though.

Don't like the roof on the Miata, but love the rest of the car.

The 2 is still meh, no matter what's under the hood.

Any Mazda2 with significantly more than the stock 100hp/98ft-lb is win in my book, though I do wish they'd make it a 3-door. The rear wing is a little silly and it's ride looks too low to have enough ground clearance for my Clear Creek neighborhood's dirt roads. :)

I need to see the MX-5 from the back-- trying to figure out its roof. Does it have no rear window??

That roof on the Miata is basically the equivalent of a safari top on a Jeep.

love the miata, speed2 looks like a front-end-rollover waiting to happen

the thing is the mazda 2 isnt a STOCK disi.... its pretty heavily modified. including a built bottom end by Cp-e and suspension by Corksport that you cant see in this picture.

im just still upset. about the axe of a mazdaspeed NC miata.. I had my title and paperwork all located for when it was going to be released, but noooo i dont know what mazda is thinking, the MX-5 is the worlds best setting roadster, and with the s2k at 240, if they made a disi option the s2k wouldnt even be an option

and its not like it will take some massive feat of engineering. the NC uses the same MZR block as the disi... all you need are internals. the disi head, and the turbo.

They don't make S2000s anymore...in case you didn't know :) But there is more to turbocharging a car than just the engine...lots of R&D has to go into making it reliable and serviceable. It'd probably need an upgraded rear diff and axles, stiffer suspension, new ECU, etc.

I'm with Chris, doubt they will build a Spyder...but I like the overall look of that car. I hope the next Miata is as sexy as that. The current one is kind of meh...

As for the 2...it still looks like a 2. It's alright, but I wouldn't own one. And with a turbo anything in a FWD car that size...I sure hope Mada can keep the torque steer under control.

I like the look of that Miata. I sill hate the hood opening though. It bothers me how it just floats there in the middle of the body. Nissan does it in the Maxima to and I hate it. It's not to bad looking on the picture above but I feel the hood must meet the headlights.

I could be on-board with a Mazdaspeed2. LIghtweight, plenty of power for it's chassis, would probably still fetch some decent MPG on the highway if you stay out of boost, and probably priced well to boot.

true but they did it with the speed miata. they did give us bigger axles but everything else was an option from a normal miata.. and they just pulled all the suspension goodies from the mazdaspeed catalog. and threw on a set of racinghart wheels.

I dont want anything to do with that spyder.... i like being able to put my top up and down in a matter of seconds.. not minutes.. like you see in the following clip

The headlights on the Miata actually look s2k'ish to me. The front end itself also somewhat harkens the s2k. Could just be me though..........

That Miata is sexy, aside from the roof. If you can call it a roof. Looks like a tarp stretched across and fastened in two places onto the rear.

From what I understand the Miata is a 2012 NC done up for the SEMA show. They had this posted up on the Goodwin Racing forums and were talking about it there. The top is basically a bikini top like you would see on a Jeep. Looks great. I could be wrong, so please correct me if I am.
